  2. Free the fish from the seeds, finely chop the fillet. Mix the chopped mass with very finely chopped herbs and garlic chopped with a press.
  3. The onion must be peeled and chopped.
  4. Place the fish first in a salad bowl and cover with a layer of onions, which, like all subsequent ones, must be soaked in mayonnaise sauce.
  5. Then add carrots and potatoes.
  6. The finishing layer will be beets, as in any traditional recipe.
  7. If you wish, you can decorate the appetizer with herbs and pieces of vegetables.

Tip: to add a special touch to the dish, you can use not boiled carrotsand cooked in Korean. It is in this version that the delicate "Fur coat" will be transformed, will acquire spicy taste, which cannot be compared with the original.

The most delicious herring under a fur coat in any version is very refined. There is no limit to the hostesses' fantasies, and they come up with more and more recipes, thanks to which it becomes possible to satisfy the most sophisticated needs.

One of the most important dishes of any New Year's festive table is puff salad, Herring under a Fur Coat. According to the classic recipe, it is prepared in layers soaked in mayonnaise from: potatoes, onions, carrots, beets and, of course, the herring itself. There are various variations of this dish with the addition of apple or cheese, but today we will cook the very same classic herring under a fur coat familiar to us from childhood.

The main ingredient is, of course, the herring itself or its fillet. I prefer to use, so to speak, natural product, and not a semi-finished product, because the more energy and soul you put into the dish, the tastier it turns out.

The herring must be cut, bones removed and cut into small pieces as in the photo.

Boil the vegetables in their uniforms for about half an hour, until they become soft enough.

Peeling beets, potatoes and carrots is very easy, you don't even need a knife.

Put the potatoes in the first layer. To do this, grind it on a medium grater and distribute it in an even layer, and then grease it with mayonnaise. Here it is necessary to make a small clarification, if you use a little mayonnaise, then the layers: potatoes, carrots and beets need to be slightly salted - I did just that.

Put finely chopped onions on a potato pillow and also coat with mayonnaise.

The next layer is the cooked herring fillet, which must be spread over the onion in an even layer.

Boiled carrots, as well as potatoes, are rubbed on a medium grater, put on top of the herring and coat with mayonnaise.

The final layer is grated beets, which must also be soaked with mayonnaise and smoothed as in the photo. It is best to use a regular tablespoon for leveling.

So we have prepared our real herring under a fur coat, which is not a shame to serve to anyone festive table, and especially in the New Year. Enjoy your meal!
