Ingredients:

  • Boiled potatoes - 350 g.
  • Herring fillet - 250 g.
  • Boiled carrots - 300 g.
  • Boiled beets - 400 g.
  • Mayonnaise - 300 g.
  • Onion - 1 medium head
  • Sunflower unrefined oil- 1 tbsp. l.
  • Cold ordinary water- 25 ml.
  • Gelatin - 5 g.
For decoration:
  • Mayonnaise - 50 - 100 g.
  • Fresh viburnum (or fresh cranberries)
  • fresh parsley

Cooking:

1. We clean potatoes, carrots, beets. We boiled them in the evening. They are cold to us.

2. Pour gelatin with cold water and set aside until it swells.

3. For this salad, we usually take a whole herring, clean it and cut it into fillets. She's juicier and tastier than that fillet, which is sold ready-made. Cut the fillet into small pieces.

4. Peel the onion, cut into small pieces, spread to the fillet. We fill the herring with onions with a spoonful of unrefined sunflower oil.

Well, if you have someone who does not like unrefined, replace with any. But keep in mind that unrefined sunflower oil is very fragrant and gives a special taste to the salad, even in small quantities.

5. Mix everything well and also set aside for the time being.

6. On a coarse grater, rub the beets and also set aside.

7. Our gelatin has already swelled well, it has become like winter honey about. You need to dissolve it in a steam bath.

We usually put a bowl with thickened gelatin in a bucket of hot water, the water should not reach the edges of the bowl, bring the water to a boil and keep the gelatin in the water until it becomes like liquid honey. Let it cool down a bit and use as directed.

8. Gelatin is dissolved, it has cooled down a bit, and through a strainer we pour it into mayonnaise. We mix everything well.

10. Put the grated beets on the bottom of the mold. Let's tame it nicely. Lubricate the beets with mayonnaise.

11. Grate the carrots on the beets, on a coarse grater. Align over the entire surface. Let's tame a little too.

Keep in mind - to tamp well, this is to press down with a spoon so that the layer becomes even and uniform. This does not mean that you need to take a crush and ram the layers.

  • Herring fillet - 1 pc.
  • Salt to taste;
  • Mayonnaise to taste.

Cooking:

1. In the evening we boiled potatoes, carrots, beets. We always boil beets separately from other vegetables, so that these vegetables do not turn beet-colored. I really tried to boil the vegetables all together. If the beet skin is not damaged, then it does not stain the neighbors. But it's better not to risk it.

2. We put the eggs in a saucepan, poured cold water over it, added a teaspoon of salt and cooked after boiling for 15 minutes. For other salads, eggs can be boiled for less, about 10 minutes. But in this we need a strong protein. When the eggs are cooked, put them under cold running water to cool down and make it easier to peel.
