Easter is coming. This year it falls on April 28th. According to church tradition, eggs need to be painted on Maundy Thursday, which means that there is a hot time of preparation in every home for the bright holiday of the resurrection of Jesus - they paint eggs, make dough for Easter cakes and prepare cottage cheese Easter.
And also in families where there are little children or mistress-needlewomen make thematic crafts to decorate their home and for gifts to relatives and friends.
I remember, as a child, my grandmother dyed testicles with onion peel in a reddish-brown color. Now you won't surprise anyone with red, and the hostesses come up with all kinds of decorating methods. Indeed, in Christ's Resurrection, it is customary to christen, and give eggs and. And so I want to stand out so that the donated testicle is liked and remembered.
And every year I ask myself a question and surf the Internet for new information. This time I decided to collect all the methods I liked in one place.
Painted Easter eggs vary in the way they are dyed.
Krashenki - painted in one color with natural or food coloring
Drapanki (or shkryabanki) - on a surface painted in one color, a drawing is scratched with a sharp object, for example, a needle or a clerical knife. It is preferable to use brown specimens, because their shells are stronger
Speckles - first they are painted in one color, then wax is applied with drops and dipped in paint of a different color. After drying, the wax is removed by immersion in hot water or by scraping. In ancient times, it was impossible to apply more than three colors
Easter eggs are painted by hand and are considered the most difficult way. In skilled hands, it is a work of art. Beeswax is heated and a pattern is applied to a cold raw egg with a special steel feather. Then it is painted in the desired color, and the pattern is applied again and the whole process is repeated until the desired result is obtained. When all the patterns are applied, you need to carefully stack the wax from the surface above the candle flame.
Sloths are the easiest way. The use of iron-on stickers is not time consuming, and the result pleases the eye with a variety of patterns
Stickers - more suitable for crafts with children. The materials at hand are glued to the surface - cereals, peas, beads, braid, seeds
Beads - a beaded design requires perseverance and patience, and is most often used on souvenir eggs
Malevanka (paint) - signs with an invented pattern and does not carry any semantic load. This method is suitable for children's activities in the manufacture of gift souvenirs.
The last three types are more often used to create crafts for Easter, because these species are preferable to use on empty eggs.
Regardless of which painting method you choose, you need to properly prepare for the process:
The most traditional dyeing method is using onion peels. I usually save it starting in the fall. Moreover, I need it not only for Easter, but also for gardening work as fertilizer and repelling pests when planting potatoes. By the way, if you do not have husks, then you can ask vegetable sellers for it - they will gladly get rid of it. Checked.
This is the usual way. There are others. In some families, it is customary to boil water with husks for 40-50 minutes and leave to infuse overnight. And in the morning, boil eggs in this water or in water strained from the leaves. I tried this and that - I didn't see the difference, so I prefer the quick method.
Patterned eggs can be made using parsley leaves, dill, or other greens. To secure the leaflet, use a nylon stocking or gauze.
For beauty, you can grease with sunflower oil.
To obtain a marble effect, we take a regular onion husk and a bottle of brilliant green. It is preferable to take a white object for decoration. In this case, the drawing will turn out to be clear and bright.
To create a beautiful pattern, cut the husk into small pieces with scissors. The smaller the leaves, the more beautiful the drawing. Another nuance - the combined use of red and golden husks will sparkle on the surface with richer shades.
We spread it on cheesecloth, sprinkle it with leaves on top and wrap it in a small bag. The gauze should fit snugly around the surface. We fix with threads
Remove the gauze from the cooled eggs and wipe the surface to add shine with a cotton pad moistened with oil.
I offer another interesting dyeing recipe. Suitable for those who are always in a hurry - it is done easily and quickly.
Prepare three colored colors and 1.5 cups of rice and 9% vinegar
Leave for a while. The longer the egg is in the rice, the brighter and more intense the pattern will be.
Food colors give you a lot of creativity. With their help, you can create various patterns on the shell, and if you use improvised means in the form of threads, electrical tape or elastic bands, then every year you can surprise your family and friends with elegant Easter clothes.
1 way - classic
In stores before Easter, a huge number of Easter paint kits are sold. We take any we like, read the instructions and perform the actions. Usually, pre-cooked white products are used for this method.
In separate containers (most often I use large circles), in which one egg fits well, we dilute the dye. If there are only 4 colors in a pack, then it's okay. You can paint in them first, and then mix the colors and get other colors. Pour vinegar 9% into a mug and lower the egg. Hold in the solution until the desired shade is obtained and dry on a cardboard stand. They are also often included in the kit. If not, then you can make it yourself.
Method 2 - rainbow
If there is time and desire, then we experiment and get a rainbow on our table.
It turns out a rainbow egg.
3 way - striped
With this method, you can use electrical tape or threads. With electrical tape, the pattern will be more pronounced. And don't forget the gloves.
4 way - patterned
We use different rubber bands. There are thick ones, there are rubber bands for money, and there are very thin ones. The combination gives an interesting result.
This method is similar to the previous one. Let's dilute several dyes in different containers
Method 5 - speckled
There are several options. You can dilute ordinary acrylic paint and use a brush or toothbrush to spray on a white egg or the second option on an already painted one.
If there is a wax pencil, then we use it. It is, of course, more convenient to use.
With the help of natural products, beautiful and delicate colors can be obtained. Unlike food, the process will take, of course, more time. But adherents of folk recipes will undoubtedly appreciate their dignity.
For golden and yellow flowers, birch leaves, both fresh and dried, are suitable. Boil them with boiling water for 30 minutes, and then boil white eggs in the solution for 10 minutes
The spinach will give a light green hue. Grind the leaves into gruel and boil the already boiled eggs in spinach solution for one minute
Pink can be obtained with cranberry or cherry juice. Squeeze juice from berries, boil eggs in it and leave overnight.
We get a beautiful brown-chocolate color with coffee or tea. Boil eggs in strong coffee solution (10 minutes).
In the table you can see what dyes and how to use to obtain the desired color.
Beets give the shell a pink color. There are several ways to color this vegetable. See one of them in the table above - coloring with beetroot juice. Squeeze out the juice and leave the finished egg in it for three hours. Be sure to add vinegar for color fastness.
Another way is done like this - cut the beets into cubes or three on a grater. The pattern on the shell surface depends on the grinding method. Boil for 10-20 minutes. The vegetable should be soft and deep red. We immerse the eggs in the beetroot mass. We leave it all night. The color comes out uneven and iridescent.
To get a yellow color, we use turmeric. Boil the eggs beforehand.
Pour 3 tbsp into the bowl. l. spices and dilute with boiling water, add 2 tbsp. vinegar for stability, and dip the eggs in the solution. Let it cool, and then send it to the refrigerator for a night for a more intense coloring.
Surprisingly, we get the blue color from red cabbage. Such is the chemistry!
Unusual coloring method. Look for unnecessary pieces of bright, fading rags. Persistently stained will not work. You also need a white cotton cloth, water and vinegar.
Cool and free from fabric clothing.
With the help of a napkin, we get bright and non-repeating colors. You choose the colors yourself, depending on your preferences and the available quantity.
We use ready-made eggs. We dilute the paint - yellow, red and blue, add vinegar for color fastness. We must wear gloves
Joint creativity with children in preparation for Easter will benefit both mother and child.
We will use a fast and easy way. We buy thermal stickers, cut them. Boil the eggs, dry them with a napkin.
Safe and unusual decorating method is suitable for already boiled white eggs.
In handicraft stores we buy napkins with a small pattern of Easter theme. We pull out motifs of a suitable size with our hands. You can also use scissors, but then the borders of the picture are clearer.
Potal is used in handicrafts and gives the products an expensive and rich look. Get inspired by watching the video and repeat the process. Your loved ones will be surprised by the richness of the decor.
Choose your favorite option for decorating Easter eggs, or even several. Happy Easter!
Today I decided to try another method of coloring Easter eggs. This time we will paint the eggs blue using red cabbage juice.
To get a deep blue color, you need one or two heads of red cabbage, vinegar and the desired amount of white eggs.
Since red cabbage is not the cheapest product, you can save a little on its quality. For this recipe, you can safely take sluggish and discounted heads of cabbage.
In the previous recipes, we colored Easter eggs by cooking them in, today we will soak pre-cooked eggs in cabbage juice. So this recipe will take more time from us.
Red cabbage needs to be finely chopped, add vinegar and water and let it drain and brew. The more cabbage you use, the more intense the infusion will be.
Eggs need to be well washed with soap or wiped with vodka, as well as removed from the refrigerator in advance and allowed to warm to room temperature. Then place in cold water and add salt. You can spare no salt and put 1 tsp. - 1 tbsp. l. depending on the number of eggs and the volume of the pan. Salt should be added in case the eggs do crack during cooking, the salt will interact with the protein and it will curl up, so it will not spread throughout the pan.
Boil the eggs after boiling for 10 minutes, and then place them in ice water. Due to the thermal shock, the shell will slightly separate from the protein and will be easy to peel.
Dip the prepared eggs into the pre-prepared and decanted red cabbage juice. I left the eggs in the infusion overnight, and as a result, the eggs took on a deep blue color.
Painted Easter eggs can be lightly brushed with vegetable oil for shine.
You need to be careful with Easter eggs painted in this way. So if you want to wash them or rub them too hard, the color will fade or be partially erased.
In addition, with the help of natural dyes, it can be colored in:
Finely chop the red cabbage (1 or 2 heads). Cabbage can be taken not of the highest quality.
Place the cabbage in an enamel or glass dish. Add water and vinegar and mix well.
Cover the container with a lid or cling film and refrigerate overnight until the cabbage juices.
Wash eggs well with soap or rubbing alcohol. The eggs should be white, at room temperature.
Put the eggs in cold water, add salt and cook after boiling for 10 minutes until tender. Dip the finished eggs into ice water.
Strain the juice obtained from the cabbage and dip the pre-boiled eggs into it.
We leave the eggs in cabbage juice, the longer they are in the juice, the more saturated the color will turn out.
Dyeing eggs for Easter is a long-established tradition. Each hostess tries to bake fragrant and curd Easter for the holiday. And very often he is faced with the problem of decorating eggs for Easter. Everyone wants to make unusual and original Easter eggs as a gift, delighting both adults and children.
In this article, we will show you what methods and tricks exist to create unique and beautiful Easter eggs at home. With the help of them, you can not only please your household, but also surprise dear guests and acquaintances.
Boil white chicken eggs. After you finish cooking, you need to cool them down a little. It is enough that they are at room temperature. We will not be able to work with excessively hot or icy eggs. Then, wipe the eggs from moisture, remove dirt (if any).
In the store you can buy ready-made starch, ready to work. Pour the starch into a bowl, then add warm water, not higher than room temperature. Soak it there and then stir it well. After that, you will need hot water, but not boiling water - pour hot water into the resulting mass in portions, simultaneously stirring the starch mass. If the lumps could not be avoided by stirring - take a gauze mesh and separate the glue from the lumps. Great, the glue is ready!
Colorful eggs with a rainbow pattern are a smart, simple and perfect way to decorate your Easter menu.
To create colored shells, you can use both ready-made food paints (which can be found in any store), and pigments created on your own, with your own hands. For this, you can use red cabbage, beets, blueberries, turmeric, tea, onion peels, coffee beans, and fresh herbs.
Natural dyes will give the eggshell interesting, rich shades. Below is a step-by-step recipe with a photo of making Easter eggs using red cabbage. Thanks to the bright and natural solution, after 10-14 hours the workpiece acquires a pleasant lilac-blue hue. Of course, natural pigment does not lay down very evenly (unlike artificial colors), but this gives the workpiece an authentic, natural look.
And also some other interesting ways to dye eggs at home for Easter, using onion peels, ready-made dyes and stickers. And to decorate Easter eggs with a beautiful and original pattern, use paper napkins or a piece of cloth. Consider the most interesting ways to color eggs for Easter - both popular and quite unusual.
There are some guidelines to follow when creating Easter eggs. To get the best quality eggs, rinse them thoroughly before processing. When cooking, add a handful of salt to the liquid, and pour vinegar into the natural coloring infusion. All this will help you make your Easter feast not only festive, but also useful.
Ingredients:
Preparation:
Put eggs in cold liquid, add salt. We make sure that the water covers the entire shell. Cooking for 8-10 minutes (after boiling).
We begin to prepare the infusion: pour water (800-1000 ml) into the container. Shred the red cabbage into small pieces and put in a saucepan.
Pour vinegar into a container. Cook the vegetable mass for 8-10 minutes.
After the cabbage becomes soft and the liquid turns purple, we lower the eggs into it. We make sure that the thick mass covers the entire shell.
We leave the Easter blank for 10-14 hours. We spread the eggs on a napkin.
After the product is completely dry, use it at your own discretion. If desired, decorate the shell with Easter stickers.

Dyeing process:
The most famous, classic way of dyeing eggs, which grandmothers and mothers pass on to us, is in ordinary onion peels. This is the easiest way, but very interesting and most importantly, environmentally friendly. Prepare all the necessary ingredients in advance and be sure to reheat the eggs if they have been put in the refrigerator.
To paint the eggs with onion husks, pour boiling water over the husks in a saucepan for 2 hours. As soon as the time is up, salt the water, put the eggs there and boil the water. After the water has boiled, reduce heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes. In case you want eggs with a beautiful pattern, then you must first apply the pattern, and then cook with the husk.
To create patterns on Easter eggs, you can use ordinary parsley or dill leaves, threads or cereals. Moisten an egg, attach leaves to it, or roll in cereal. An unusual pattern can be achieved by attaching lace or wrapping the egg with threads. Wrap the resulting structure in gauze or nylon (for example, from tights) and cook in onion water for the specified time.
You will need:
Coloring instructions:
For this method, you need to purchase food coloring. Many food colors are sold in stores, including in special kits for Easter.
This method is the simplest, since the manufacturer most often attaches instructions to the dyes. It is from this information that you will need to push off. If there is no information, count on about one packet of dye per 200-300 ml of water.
Boil and refrigerate chicken eggs. While the boiled eggs are cooling, you can do the dye. Use a saucepan or a large, deep bowl. Pour 50 ml of warm water there, dissolve the food coloring of the required color in it, add table vinegar (9%).
After that, mix and add water in portions to achieve the desired shade, or according to the instructions on the package (as a rule, this is 200 ml per small sachet). Dip the testicles into the finished dye one by one. Turn them over for 3-5 minutes, then remove and dry.
Do not use a drying cloth to avoid staining and sticking - paper towels are best.
You will need:
Step-by-step instruction:
That's all, the drawing will remain on your testicle! Excess starch can be removed with a dry sponge, the remains of a napkin or cloth. And a beautiful Easter egg is ready, you can present it as a gift for Easter or treat your family and friends.
In stores now there are many kits for dyeing eggs for Easter. This is also an option for shaping your testicles. Each kit usually comes with dye, stickers or egg covers with detailed decorating instructions.
The big disadvantage of these kits is that the patterns and pictures in them are monotonous and it is very difficult to find something unusual. A big plus is the reduction in cooking time and the absence of the need for additional materials.
You will need:
How to paint:
Prepare the fabric and select the patterns or images you want to place on the eggs for Easter. In one of the previous coloring methods, we have already figured out how to place an image on an egg - this is where this knowledge will come in handy.
Cut out the desired image from the fabric. To fix the fabric pattern on the egg, you need to brush the starch paste onto the egg itself, attach the picture and paint over the fabric, as you did with the napkin.
In case the fabric has strayed or lay down crookedly, there is enough hot water to peel off the pattern and reattach it. After all the pictures are placed on the egg, wipe off the excess starch. A beautiful egg with drawings for Easter is ready!
For Easter 2015, I want to stop painting eggs with chemical dyes bought in stores and switch to more natural options. We remembered that red cabbage can create an incredibly beautiful turquoise shade for dyed girls. If it seems to you that this is unrealistic, we suggest looking at how everything happens.
With the help of red cabbage, you can dye your eggs beautiful shades of blue.
First you need to grind one red cabbage (if there are a lot of eggs, then it is better to take two at once), put it in a large saucepan and pour 0.5 liters of water. Bring to a boil and then simmer for 30-45 minutes over low heat. Cool the cabbage completely before removing it from the water. Add 4-6 tablespoons of vinegar there.
In order to get a delicate heavenly color of dye for Easter, soak the eggs in the resulting solution for 1-2 hours. For a richer color, you can leave the eggs in the cabbage paint for 3-4 hours. You will get just the same magical dye color.
If you have the time and desire, you can add a twist to the eggs so that Easter 2015 will be remembered by all your dyes.
After the eggs are completely dry, place them on paper or napkins. Take an old toothbrush or brush. Dip it in gold paint and slide your finger over it so that some splashes of paint hit the egg. A beautiful golden painting will appear on the dyes, which will turn your dyes into an element of decor.
It is better to leave dyed flowers for Easter with paint on scarlop in order to admire them, as the paint can get into food. But the rest of the eggs, thanks to the red cabbage, will become the brightest dyes that will appeal to all family members.
The brightest holiday for Orthodox Christians is coming. Easter is filled with kindness and love, and warm and sunny spring days give the celebration a special atmosphere. For the holiday, it is customary to bake cakes, make a cottage cheese treat - Easter, and of course, paint eggs, the tradition of exchanging them has been going on since ancient times.
All housewives know how to paint eggs with natural dyes, most of them prefer the most common method - with onion peels. However, there are many equally original and, most importantly, safe ways to color ordinary chicken eggs in all colors of the rainbow.
When buying eggs, you need to look at the expiration date. Only the freshest are selected, because they are painted on Maundy Thursday, 3 days before they can be eaten, and they have to be stored for another 9 days - until the parent's day.
Why do you need to paint eggs at home on Thursday, why can't you do it, say, on Friday or Saturday? On this day, all preparations for Easter come to an end.
On Good Friday, it is forbidden to do anything, on Saturday you need to do charity work, adhere to fasting and decorate your home for the bright holiday. Therefore, by Thursday you need to stock up on everything you need: dyes, as well as decorative elements - rice, scraps of fabric, threads - it depends on your imagination.
Cook should be at least half an hour, so that the protein darkens. Long cooking is due to the subsequent storage of the product, otherwise it may simply not live up to the parent's day. In this case, a lot of water is required, moreover, you need to ensure that it does not boil away, and constantly add.
Before dyeing, the eggs can be wiped with vinegar, then the dye is better absorbed. During the procedure, hands must be dry and clean.
If the hostess wants the testicles to be evenly and beautifully colored, no matter what natural dye she chooses, she should not be thrown into the water, but put in a nylon sock, tied and lowered into a saucepan. Otherwise, the dye particles will stick to the shell, and it will become variegated.
Eggs can be painted not only on the outside, but also on the inside. To do this, they need to be boiled for 3 minutes, then take out and gently pierce the shell from several places with a thin sharp needle. After that, boil until tender.
The popular onion husk stains the shell in a rich red-brown, orange or yellow color, it all depends on its amount and the time during which the eggs will be in solution.
So, if you have decided on natural dyes for Easter eggs, it's time to start the dyeing process.
This method was used by our grandmothers, but even now it is not has lost its relevance. In the process of dyeing, the eggs acquire a beautiful rich shade.
This will require a husk of at least 8 large bulbs, which is harvested in advance.
By the way, do not rush to pour the broth of onion peel after staining. You can use it for culinary purposes and bake the brisket in the husk. And women who strive to ensure that their hair always looks great know that you can rinse your hair with such a decoction. The husk not only strengthens them, but also gives a delightful reddish tint and shine to the hair.
An affordable root vegetable can give eggs both a hot pink and an intense burgundy color. There are several options for dyeing with beets. Let's consider each of them in detail.
Coloring Easter eggs with any natural dyes, including beets, is best done with gloves, because your hands will also be colored, and subsequently washing them will be problematic.
By the way, if you mix beet juice with turmeric and color the eggs in the resulting solution, they will turn out to be a beautiful green color.
If you want to get something original and surprise your loved ones with beautiful sky-blue Easter eggs, then try to paint them in an exotic hibiscus (tea made from Sudanese rose petals).
The easiest spinach will color Easter eggs in green.
Important: if you use fresh spinach, the eggshell will be green, if frozen - beige, which also looks very impressive.
Turmeric staining is very popular. White eggs take on a pleasant light yellow hue, brown eggs - a rich orange.
Please note that turmeric is not completely soluble in water, so stir the water carefully so as not to touch or damage the shell. It is advisable to take the old pan, because the walls of the dishes will turn bright orange and it will be difficult to wash it. This can be done using the usual "Whiteness".
Turmeric is a highly dyeing substance, so it is better to carry out the procedure with gloves, and cover the table with oilcloth or newspapers.
Do not be alarmed if the protein also turns orange, this is just the effect of a natural dye. There is no threat to health.
A blue tint can be obtained using more than just tea leaves hibiscus tea, but also red cabbage. There are two color options:
In the first case, a sky-blue color is obtained, in the second - a saturated azure shade. Let's consider each option in detail.
Easter eggs are delicious yellow golden color, such an interesting shade can be achieved only with the help of natural coloring, not a single chemical dye is able to give such a spectacular shade. On the festive table, bright eggs will glow and play in the sun with a golden glitter.
With frozen berries, you can color the eggs in a deep blue.
Everyone at home can be connected to the fascinating process, especially children love to do this.
Refined and unique designs on Easter eggs are obtained by dyeing them using fabrics, for example, pieces of an old silk tie or Pavlovo Paschans scarves. You can use any other fabrics you like and would like to reproduce.
Beautiful dazzling white patterns with your own hands can be applied to painted eggs using powdered sugar. Extraordinary printed texture of the ingredient used will make Easter eggs unique, no matter what color they are painted, even in delicate pastel, even in bright, saturated.
This painting technique has been used since ancient times. On painted and cooled eggs, a layer of paint is scraped off with a knife or other sharp object, thus creating the desired pattern.
