  Do you know that pita bread is a great base for snacks? I really like it in the form of rolls with all kinds of fillings, and like an envelope - with the same fillings, but in a hot form. I often cook them - both for breakfast, and as a snack at home, so that they survive until dinner, and my husband as a snack for beer. The most important thing is to choose the ingredients for the filling that go well with each other. And you don’t need complicated combinations and exotic products. Sometimes simplicity is the best option. Like, for example, pita bread with cheese, sausage and tomatoes: in fact, the same, but how tasty and how beautiful! So, today we are preparing pita bread with a filling, recipes with photos are simple and quick to prepare, you will see at the end of the description of this culinary master class.

Ingredients:
- 1 rectangular sheet of pita bread;
- 0.5 medium tomato;
- 50-70 g of sausage;
- 30-50 g of hard cheese;
- 1 tsp mayonnaise.

Recipe with photo step by step:

  We cut the rectangular sheet of pita bread into 2 parts. It turns out that we have 2 squares measuring about 20x20 cm.

  Grease each sheet of pita bread with mayonnaise. In this case, the layer of mayonnaise should be very thin.

  Cut the tomato into small cubes.

  We also cut the sausage very finely. I took smoked sausage, because I love just that, but if you prefer cooked sausage, then use it.

  Three hard cheese on a medium grater. Mix grated cheese, tomato, sausage in a separate container. This will be the filling for our pita bread. No need to add mayonnaise to it - the cheese will melt and the filling will not be dry.

  We spread the filling in the center of each square of pita bread. We do this so that there is enough space on the sides for wrapping.

  And now we bend the free sides of the pita bread - first one pair of the opposite, then the second. It is important for us that the result is an “envelope” from which the filling will not fall out.

  We send this envelope to the pan, under which we turn on the fire to the maximum. Soak for 1-2 minutes - until the pita is browned, and then turn it on the other side and wait until the second side becomes golden. During this time, the filling will warm up too, and the cheese will have time to melt.

That's all, you can remove pita bread with a filling from the pan and enjoy a tasty and unusual snack.

  By the way, such a pita in the cold is also quite good. And in any case, you can always warm it up - either again in a frying pan, or in a microwave. Enjoy your meal!

Tips and tricks:
  Lavash itself is quite fragile and, when bent, can break or tear. Let it not bother you much - our filling is such that it does not leak through such holes. But if during the bending the edges of the pita bread do not overlap each other, and you get a real hole, then the filling, of course, will fall out of our envelope.
  In the corresponding step-by-step photo, you probably noticed that I have a grill pan - I like it when golden lines appear on the surface of envelopes. Although not necessary, an ordinary skillet will also do the job perfectly. As you noticed, the pan must be dry, that is, we do not use oil or some other fat to make pita bread.
  As I already said, the filling for such pita bread can be very different and depends on who you are cooking for and in what situation. For example, it turns out not only delicious, but also very beautiful. And I will gladly share with you several more options, with which you can cook pita bread according to the same principle - in a frying pan:
  1) cheese + tomatoes + greens
  2) cheese + boiled chicken + greens
  3) cheese + boiled chicken + fried mushrooms
  4) cheese + slightly salted red fish + tomatoes
  5) cheese + smoked meat + greens
  6) salted cottage cheese + greens + tomatoes
  7) canned tuna + tomatoes + greens
  8) cheese + boiled chicken + pineapple
  9) fried minced meat + cheese + greens
  10) fried mushrooms + passivated onions + cheese

Pita bread with sausage and cheese - general principles of cooking

Pita breads are sold in large sheets. Depending on the specific recipe, they are cut into pieces or used as a whole. Practically any product can be wrapped in pita bread and you can get original dishes in a matter of minutes, which can be either a snack or a hearty snack.

Sausage and cheese are the ideal filling for such dishes. But their choice should be approached deliberately. Dried and uncooked smoked sausages are not the best option, as they are tough. It is best to take boiled, without fat ("Doctoral" or "Children's"). Also a good choice is soft half-smoked sausage.

Cheeses are used for filling or lubricating pita bread. They are also sprinkled with items before baking, such as pizza. The choice of variety is most often limited only by your imagination and availability. In most recipes, you can safely move away from the canons and replace the variety at your discretion. Do not neglect only the type of cheese, if brine is indicated - replace it with the same. For example, feta cheese on “Fetu” or “Adygea”. Accordingly, the same can be done with hard and processed cheeses.
