Boil potatoes in their skins in salted water.
Peel carrots, beets and potatoes. It is more convenient for me to rub them immediately into a salad bowl. But you can immediately grate all the vegetables on a coarse grater.
Finely chop one peeled medium onion. It is best to take white sweet onions.
If you come across a bitter onion, just marinate it in vinegar in half with water. After 10 minutes, drain the vinegar, and put the onion on a sieve and let it drain well.
Hard boil three eggs. Grate two of them on a coarse grater, put one aside for now - we will need it to decorate the finished salad.
Take a jar of mayonnaise out of the refrigerator. No, low-calorie is not good at all here. Only classic high-fat mayonnaise is able to emphasize and enhance the taste of fur coats.
Well, we have prepared the necessary products, now we will collect our salad.
Usually, a long, elongated dish, popularly referred to as a herring, is used for the Shuba salad. If you don’t have one, a regular round one with high sides will do. And for the festive table, you can prepare a salad in a round shape, for this, just take a detachable cake mold or you can cut off the bottom of a plastic container.

Decorate the surface with mayonnaise, according to your imagination. I usually just smear it, and then decorate the finished salad.
The prepared dish cannot be served immediately to the table, it should be well saturated, for this we put it in the refrigerator for 5-6 hours.
If you prepared the salad in a round shape, then before serving it must be removed. This is easy to do - just scroll it a little to the side and gently lift it up.
But we still have one more egg left. Separate the protein from the yolk and grate them separately on a grater.
Sprinkle the beetroot coat on top: in the center - with crushed yolk, along the edges - with protein. Or just one grated protein. The beauty!
It is necessary to decorate the top of the salad right before serving, otherwise everything will be stained from the beets.
This question often arises among housewives. It is better not to salt - the herring itself is already quite salty, and the mayonnaise is also salty. It is usually enough to boil the potatoes in salted water (as with conventional cooking). But if everyone in your family loves salt and the fish you got is lightly salted, you can salt the vegetable layers, those that are not next to the pieces of fish.
