Onion jewelery. Onion Chrysanthemum: Workshop

Charming onion chrysanthemum will undoubtedly become the best decoration of many dishes! It looks especially good on salads, such as a fur coat and olivier, and also perfectly decorates meat and fish dishes, meat pies, snacks and many other dishes. The most curious thing is that it will not be difficult to make such a chrysanthemum, as well as paint it in the future so that it accurately imitates a flower. Look at the two onion chrysanthemums below - yellow and pink: both were painted with natural ingredients. And how they look like a real flower!

And even a simple white onion chrysanthemum also looks very, very festive, wonderfully decorating a salad with it:

The work is quite simple, you can handle it in minutes:

1. First, prepare large onions.

2. Peel it, cut off both the bottom and the top about half a centimeter (even a little less). Then start cutting the onion in half, but not to the very end. If you do not cut it completely, the onion will not open, and if it is to the very end, it will fall apart. Cut with a sharp knife into as many divisions as possible - then the flower will be fluffy and very beautiful.

Ideally, you should get such a blank as in the photo below. Put the cut onion for an hour in warm water - it, like a flower, will gradually open. Opening time depends on the variety of onion. It may take 30 minutes to 2 hours.

3. At the end, the still white chrysanthemum can be colored. For red or pink chrysanthemum, take fresh beetroot juice, in which dip the onion chrysanthemum with the tips down (or whole, if desired). The intensity of staining depends on the duration of exposure in the juice - check every 10 minutes to get the right color.

To decorate salads, meat, fish and vegetable dishes, it is very simple to make   chrysanthemum onions

1. To make chrysanthemum, take a small round onion.

You can take both white and red onions.
The smaller the bulb, the more beautiful the flower.
Try to choose a thin-walled bulb, then the petals are thinner and more beautifully open.

2. Peel the onion and cut off the top and bottom by approximately 0.5 cm.

3. With a thin sharp knife, carefully cut almost in half, without cutting to the end about 0.5 cm.
An incision is made from the upper side - where the feather grows.

4. Then cut again in half in the same way.

5. Next, cut into as many parts as possible. It is advisable to make as many cuts as possible.
If the cuts are not deep enough, the flower will bloom poorly, and if too deep, the flower will fall apart.

6. Put the onion in room temperature water - the water should cover the onion completely.
In an hour and a half, the chrysanthemum should “blossom”.
The time to “bloom” a chrysanthemum depends on the onion variety. 40 minutes are enough for some varieties, and some need a couple of hours.

7. To give the flower brightness, dip the tips of a blossoming chrysanthemum in beetroot juice (rub raw beets and squeeze through a cloth).
Coloring time - until the desired color is obtained.
You can use any other food coloring - brightly colored juice (for example, cherry, blackcurrant), yellow saffron solution, cahors or other red wine, pickled beet brine, etc.
You can color the whole flower.

Do it yourself chrysanthemum from a bulb + Photo

Quite simply, you can make an original decoration for salads, vegetables, fish and meat dishes - create a chrysanthemum of their onions.

To create a chrysanthemum from a bulb you will need:

Onion

Bowl of cold water

Pink beets (optional)

Thin knife

The process of creating chrysanthemum from a bulb:

1. To create a chrysanthemum, take a small round bulb (you can use both white and red onions). The smaller the size of the bulb, the more beautiful the flower is (fig. 1). It is also advisable to choose a thin-walled bulb, then the petals will be thinner and more beautiful to open.

3. Using a thin knife, start cutting the onion from the upper side (Fig. 2). It is important not to cut to the end about 1.5-2 cm . It is possible to cut both gradually and simply in half, then in half, into as many parts as possible. It is advisable to make the maximum number of cuts. If the cuts are not deep enough, the flower may not bloom well, and if too deep, the flower may completely fall apart.

4. Put the whole bulb in cold water (fig. 4). For disclosure, it may take from 20 minutes to 1.5 hours - it all depends on the onion variety.

5. If you come to give the flower a bright pink tint, then dip the tips of the blossoming chrysanthemum in beetroot juice (rub the raw beets and squeeze through a cloth). And you can also immediately chop the beets and put them in a bowl with chopped onion (Fig. 5). Coloring time will depend on the desired color of the chrysanthemum.

Bulb chrysanthemum is ready!

You can also use any other food coloring - brightly colored juice (for example, cherry, blackcurrant), yellow saffron solution, cahors or other red wine, pickled beet brine, etc.You can color the whole flowers.

To make chrysanthemum, you need a small bulb. At your discretion, you can use a white or red onion. A more beautiful flower is obtained from a small bulb. The quality of the flower is also affected by the thickness of the onion walls. Thin-walled bulb petals are more elegant.
1. First peel the onion, wash, dry. Cut about half a centimeter from the top and bottom of the bulb.
2. Using a thin sharp knife, cut the onion into almost two parts, without cutting about half a centimeter to the end. It is best to make an incision from the upper side, in the place where the feather grows.
3. Make another same cut, perpendicular to the first.
4. Next, cut the onion into as many parts as possible. Be careful, because with insufficiently deep cuts, the flower will bloom poorly, and, conversely, with very deep cuts, the flower will simply fall apart.
5. Now the bulb must be completely immersed in water at room temperature. Depending on the type of onion, it will take from 40 minutes to several hours for the onion chrysanthemum to blossom.
6. Such a flower can be painted with beetroot juice by dipping the whole flower or the tips of its petals. For coloring, you can use any other food coloring.

Delicate white bulb flower.

1. We clean, wash, dry a white onion. Try to peel the bulb so as not to cut the root seal.
2. Throughout the onion we make four to five cuts with a depth of two to three layers.
3. We bend the extreme layers, these will be the petals of the flower. The internal incised layers are removed with a knife. Since the petals are brittle, everything must be done with extreme caution.
4. The following cuts are made in a checkerboard pattern. And we repeat the steps from the previous paragraph: we bend the first layer, eliminate the inner one.
5. Repeat these steps until you reach the middle of the bulb.
6. After that, the onion must be placed in hot water for a few seconds.
7. Then put the onion in a marinade of water, vinegar and sugar for ten minutes.
* Add the number of ingredients for the marinade to taste.
8. If desired, the flower can be dyed with food coloring. We take out the flower from the marinade, shake off the excess liquid, straighten the petals and decorate the dish.

Unusual Leek Flower

1. Cut off a piece of stem about 15 centimeters long.
2. Use a sharp knife to make longitudinal cuts with a width of not more than 1.5 centimeters.
3. From the cut out thin strips we make petals. To do this, bend the strip and then turn it to the center.
4. Petals can be made up to three to four rows.
5. After the petals are formed, it is necessary to trim the excess part of the stem at about the level of the petals.
6. You can add volume to the stalk using incisions.

Leek flower

1. Fold in half a wide stalk   leek. On the bend side, make frequent cuts.

2. Roll it to be the core of the flower.

3. Now you need to make the petals of the wide parts of the onion, folding them in half.

4. Secure the flower with toothpicks and lay it on the dish.
