The novelty of the salad lies in the fact that we serve it on the table in the form of a roll, let's call it Roll - fur coat or vice versa - Fur coat - roll. But whatever name we give this salad, this is a really unusual recipe, especially roll fans will like it. Ingredients for cooking:

  • Herring - 1/2
  • Beets - 2 pcs.
  • Potatoes - 3 pcs.
  • Carrots - 1 pc.
  • Eggs - 2 pcs.
  • Lettuce leaves - 2 pcs.
  • Mayonnaise - 200 gr.


Cooking process:

1. First of all, we need to boil vegetables. Then cool and clean.

2. Then I start to grate the beets into thin slices using a special grater. We rub not all the beets, about 1.5 pieces, leaving half for the filling.

3. We will make a roll on a bamboo mat, having previously covered it with cling film.


4. Then carefully lay out the beet slices in a row with a slight overlap, with an ugly edge down, and the beautiful one should be at the top, as it will be visible on the finished roll.

6. Then, stepping back a little from the edge, we begin to rub the remaining half of the beet on a coarse grater. We distribute it a little more than the middle so that we have free edges. The edge that should be smaller from us, that further - a little more.



8. Then I rub the rest of the vegetables on a coarse grater and lay them in layers on the beets. The next layer is carrots. When stacking carrots, press down, thereby linking them to other layers. Brush with a little mayonnaise.

Important! The layers of the rolls do not need to be made too large, as it will be more convenient to eat!



10. The next layer is potatoes. Then pour with mayonnaise.

Cooking method:

2. Chop the onion. Dissolve salt, sugar and lemon juice in warm water, and add the onion to the container with the marinade.

3. While our onions are marinated, we need to peel the herring from seeds and entrails, cut into small pieces of the same size.

4. Then we proceed to cut the eggs in half and separate the yolks from the whites. The proteins must be even and whole, as they will serve as a form for our salad.

We will need:

  • Lightly salted herring -1pc.
  • Boiled potatoes - 1pc.
  • Boiled beets - 1 pc.
  • Boiled carrots - 1 pc.
  • Onion - 1pc.
  • Mayonnaise,
  • Salt.
  • Vegetable oil - 1 tbsp.
  • Butter - 25 gr.


Cooking process:

1. First you need to prepare the vegetables, wash and boil until tender, then peel them. Next, grate the vegetables, chop the onion. Peel and seed the herring and chop finely into small pieces.

2. Salt the potatoes, add a piece of butter and stir until it is completely dissolved

Important! The potatoes must be hot so that when they cool, they take the shape we need.

Butcher the herring fillet, remove the seeds. You don't need to cut anything, even boiling vegetables will save you a lot of time and effort.



The exception is onions. If you know that the onion is bitter or too spicy, you need to finely chop it and prepare it for the Herring under a Fur Coat salad in advance.





Transfer the onion to a small container, add salt and sugar (a pinch of salt, a little more sugar) and lightly crush the onion with your hands.
