To be honest, this was my first time making a pie with onions and melted cheese. Fell in love with it from the first bite. I treated it to my colleagues - everyone began asking for the recipe for this tender and tasty pie.
A thin layer of crumbly dough and a lot of delicate cheese and onion filling - this is exactly how this wonderful original pie turns out. Few people immediately realize that the filling contains a lot of onions. You can add chopped greens or dry herbs to the filling to taste. Onion pie with melted cheese is perfect as an appetizer.
To prepare a pie with onions and cream cheese, take the necessary ingredients. They should be at room temperature when you start cooking the pie.
Sift flour into a bowl, add butter and salt.
You need to grind the ingredients with your hands until you get crumbs (the crumbs are not small, but in small pieces).
Then add sour cream and soda.
Knead a soft dough, transfer to a bag and place in the refrigerator for about 2 hours.
While the dough is chilling, prepare the filling. Cut the peeled onion into half rings.
Heat the onion in vegetable oil over low heat until soft, add salt and ground black pepper to taste.
Grate the processed cheese into a bowl using a coarse grater (if the cheese is very soft, you can keep it in the freezer for a little while).
Add hot onions to the grated cheese.
Mix the ingredients. Let the mixture cool.
Sprinkle the table with a little flour. Remove the dough from the refrigerator, divide into 2 parts - 1/3 and 2/3.
Roll out most of the dough to about 3-4 mm thick.
Place the dough into the mold, forming sides. I use a ceramic mold with a diameter of 28 cm.
In a bowl, beat the eggs with a pinch of salt using a fork.
Pour the beaten eggs into the bowl with the cooled cheeses and onions.
Mix the ingredients. The filling is ready!
Place the filling in the pan with the dough and level the top with a spoon.
Roll out the remaining dough, use a fork to make holes, and cover the pan with the dough and filling.
Gently press the dough against the edge of the pan to remove any excess dough (you can use this to make several shortbread cookies).
Bake the onion pie with melted cheese in an oven preheated to 170 degrees for about 25 minutes.
The pie is ready!
I liked the pie better when it was lukewarm.
Enjoy your meal!

If you follow the recipe exactly, the onion pie with cheese will turn out tender and tasty.

Step #3. Peel the onions, wash them thoroughly under running water and dry with a kitchen towel. Then cut each onion into half rings. Heat a frying pan over medium heat, pour sunflower oil into it. Then place the onion half rings in the frying pan and fry them until golden brown. When you achieve the desired result, remove the pan from the heat and set aside, because the onion should cool.
Step #4. Remove the processed cheese from the refrigerator. Grate them carefully using a grater with medium-sized holes. Onion pie will turn out delicious if you use full-fat cheese for cooking.
Step #5. Beat fresh chicken eggs into a deep bowl. Then beat them until foamy using a fork or a special whisk. The egg mass must be homogeneous. This will make the cheese pie filling very tender and airy.

Step #7. It's time to take the dough out of the refrigerator. Using a rolling pin, roll out the base to the size of your baking pan. Just make sure that the dough doesn't turn out too thin. Grease the bottom and sides of the baking dish well with butter, and then lightly sprinkle them with flour. Place the dough into the mold and form high sides with your hands.
Step #8. Place the prepared onion and cheese filling into the base. If necessary, smooth it out with a tablespoon. Cover the filling with dough sides as shown in the photo below. Now the onion pie is ready to go into the oven.
Step #9. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Place the baking dish there. Cook the onion pie for 40-45 minutes. When the baked goods with melted cheese are well baked and browned, remove the pan from the oven. Do not immediately remove the onion cheese pie from the baking pan; let it cool. Then transfer the savory treat to a large flat plate. If desired, decorate it with finely chopped herbs. Before serving, cut the appetizer into small pieces. This is the end of the recipe.
