We stock up with ingredients for a master class on decorating Easter cakes with mastic for Easter:

  • icing sugar - 250 gr.
  • gelatin in powder - 2 tsp.
  • water - 6 tsp.
  • glucose - 1 tsp
  • food colors of different colors

A step-by-step description of the master class on how to decorate Easter cake with mastic:

  1. Sift the icing sugar through a sieve into an enameled bowl. In another small container, set gelatin to swell for 2 to 3 minutes, after adding water.
  2. We place a container with swollen gelatin in a water bath and gently stir, waiting for complete dissolution. Pour glucose to the gelatin - as a result, the liquid acquires some transparency.
  3. In the sifted powder, we make a deepening and pour the gelatin-glucose mixture there. We stir and put the mastic in a bag of polyethylene, and then in a sealed container. After 3 to 4 hours, various decorations can be made from mastic.
  4. To make mastic roses, you need to tint a part of the main material in different colors - red, green, pink, yellow. Do not forget to leave a little white mastic, which we will need for the master class. It is better to store colored mastic in a plastic bag, taking out small portions for work - so the material will remain soft and plastic for a long time.
  5. We take a piece of mastic and sculpt a “carrot”, which we put on the work surface. Then we “pinch off” portions of the colored mass and make the same balls - future rose petals. Sprinkle the table a little with powdered sugar and with the help of a teaspoon we begin to knead the ball, giving the shape of a petal. At the same time, we make one end of the petal thinner and wider (top) than the other (bottom). Then, from below, moisten the petal with water and wrap it around the “carrot” base, forming the middle of the flower.
  6. By a similar principle, we produce a second petal, which we attach to the base in such a way as to hide the junction of the first petal. All you need to do and attach to the "carrot" 5 - 6 petals, slightly bending their upper parts - imitate the "opened bud".
  7. We leave the finished mastic rose to dry for 5 - 6 hours. Then we roll up balls from green mastic and use each finger to give each leaf a shape. To apply the “veins” we make shallow cuts with a knife and also leave to dry.
  8. We collect the petals and leaves in bouquets of roses, and then we decorate the Easter cake - in the form of mouth-watering floral compositions from mastic.

Easter is a bright and, perhaps, the most long-awaited holiday of the year for every Christian. The main decoration of the Easter table is Easter cake, colored eggs and curd Easter.

Kulich is a tall butter bread that symbolizes the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Easter cake - its symbolism and meaning

By the main Christian holiday, according to tradition, they are baking kvass bread - an artos, on which they depict a cross and a crown of thorns that symbolize the sacrifice of Christ.

On the first day of Easter, Artos is surrounded around the church. Then he is left on the analogue, where he is for a week. In the holy week it is cut and distributed to all parishioners of the church. Artos symbolizes the bread of life. Acceptance of arthos is comparable to communion.

Kulich is an analogue of homemade arthos. On pure Thursday, yeast dough is made, baked on Friday, and then blessed in the temple. Kulich is a kind of personification of bread that Christ shared with his disciples during the Last Supper.

This tradition is so great that even during the war, when people had nothing, they brought black bread for consecration for Easter.

There are many varieties of Easter baking in the Christian tradition. But only Russian Easter cake is a unique product. It is light in structure and well absorbed.

This Easter cake has a cylindrical shape. Dried fruits or candied fruits are added to the dough, and the top of the pastries is decorated with icing, on which the letters ХВ, which symbolize Christ's Sunday, are laid out.

By tradition, some of the Easter cakes were sacrificed to the poor. To do this, small pies are baked, which are transferred to orphanages, hospitals and places of detention.

It is worth noting that it is very important to properly cut the cake. Many cut it into longitudinal slices, but this is only permissible if it is eaten whole. DIY Easter decorations

There are such ways dIY decorations for Easter  eggs that have been used for a long time, because such Easter decoration has been a wonderful souvenir since ancient times (one can recall the amazing precious works of the Faberge jeweler). That is why work in this style will always be very popular.

True, as they say, from a snap you won’t master such a technique, it will take not only time for education and training, but also the purchase of expensive materials, such as beads, sequins, beads, rhinestones. The second important point is that you should approach these with the principle of moderation and with the presence of good taste, since there is a risk of overdoing it with decorations and the finished result will not cause delight, but bewilderment. The whole decor can be applied in several ways, the simplest of which is gluing, although it is painstaking work, but does not require any special preparation of the material, this can be done even on hard-boiled testicles. On the other hand, it takes so much time to craft, so much inspiration that you want to keep it as long as possible, so most often they use either empty shells, or in general special blanks (wood, foam and the like) to simulate.

The second technique that helps us make a beautiful pattern on traditional dIY decorations for Easter (photo  you can see above) - this is decoupage and applications. Moreover, if today this word is understood in most cases as sticking a thin paper napkin with a pattern on the surface, then it turns out that our great-grandmothers were also engaged in applications as a traditional type of painting. This technique consists in applying leaves of different plants to the shell, tying them with threads, and then immersing them in a solution with a natural dye (onion husk, turmeric). As a result, you will get a shell with a very delicate floral design. For those who are still interested in decoupage, it is worth using not a special glue, but a starch solution, thick enough to stick thin paper. It is applied directly to the surface of the napkin with a brush, gently distributing and leveling the paper in an ellipse, and after drying you get excellent, suitable, in addition, as any other food.

Decorating Eggs for Easter

Fashion for various decorative styles in decorating eggs for Easter also exists. Only in our complex rhythm of life, it is quite difficult to allocate time to qualitatively learn any folk, ancient technique or ornaments. Plus, there were cellophane thermal stickers that in a second would turn an ordinary chicken egg into a decor, covered with Gzhel and Petrikov painting, icons and pictures on Easter themes. Only there will be no beauty in such stickers, let it be better you spend a little more time, but yours will be original and fashionable.

In compositions for decoration today, more and more are used dyes that are decorated with foil. You can use the most ordinary, food, only it is worth choosing not the thickest and thickest, as we used to do for cooking, but, on the contrary, the thinnest. The gluing process will be quite simple, you need to draw the desired pattern on the shell, the most elementary - geometric shapes, stripes, abstractions, and then carefully apply the cut out pieces of foil to the marked places, transferring them with tweezers. As you see in the photo, you can decorate both a painted surface and a white one, it still looks spectacular. In the composition, include such a decor with a shell that is either completely covered with foil or painted specifically with such a dye, this will create a wonderful contrast.

Among the more and more used is the tradition of Western countries, when various dots are hidden on the site and the task of the children will be to find them all. It will be much more fun if they are not just multi-colored or covered with ornaments, but made in a manner that children will like. You can see examples of such children's decor in the photo above: the testicles turn into fluffy chickens, and into fairy-tale or cartoon characters, and into birds of distant lands. I would also like to tell you about the rainbow technique, which will allow us to please the kids with the finished result, and the very process of coloring, which will look like a real focus. He will need paints that create a film on the surface of the water, they are called paints for marble technique (marble), if you work with a workpiece that you are not going to use as food, then you can get the same effect using nail polishes. Paints of several colors are poured into the water, then they are mixed, armed with a wooden skewer, to get stains. Holding the workpiece with tweezers or another method, dip it into water and the paint film from its surface passes to the shell, forming bizarre, unique patterns. After staining, the work needs to be dried and coated with transparent varnish (for the inedible variety).

Do-it-yourself decorating eggs for Easter

Pretty do-it-yourself decorating eggs for Easter  maybe it’s quite simple, you just need to choose for yourself that technique and those tools that you would like to work with most. For some, wax pencils or acrylic paints will be easy, for others a marker that allows you to draw the thinnest lines and the most complex patterns.

Despite the simplicity, the finished patterns can look very impressive and can be successfully used with decorating the house for Easter. For example, pay attention to the painting with small flowers, which is done with a thin brush. To prevent the paint from spreading, the surface must be degreased with any alcohol-containing liquid and wiped dry, and the shell must be completely cooled. Apply small strokes with paint, first draw some of the largest flowers, then place medium ones between them and complement the composition with the smallest ones. Such patterns will be perfectly combined with green, floral design is always in fashion.

You can see other examples in the examples above. Braids, woolen threads, twine, thin lace will help you to process a dozen eggs in just half an hour so that they become part of the festive composition or Easter basket.

Use sugar mastic for easter cake decorations, photo  which you see above, started not so long ago, but this method has become applicable everywhere. It is mastic that allows you to create a decor similar to decorating a holiday cake, and at the same time you can choose whether to follow the traditional color scheme or experiment. You can completely envelop the Easter cake with mastic in different ways, for example, giving it the most even shape, for which you can even trim the top with a straight knife.
