A slow cooker is a salvation for a tired mother who has just come home from work, and then there is dinner, and the next morning - breakfast. But almost no one knows what to do with it. We asked culinary expert Olesya Buryan-Tseytlin to choose several recipes that you can cook in a slow cooker for the whole family every day.

Breakfast

The simplest and most obvious thing is to cook porridge in a slow cooker. Toss everything in the evening and place it on plates in the morning. But many people worry about milk spoiling overnight. There are several ways out of this situation:

Boil the porridge in water, and in the morning add a little cream, stir and place on plates.

Throw a couple of ice cubes into the bowl along with milk, cereal and spices. They will gradually melt, keeping the milk cool until the cooking process begins.

Use plant-based milk that will not sour without refrigeration.

Rice porridge with coconut milk

For two servings:

1 measuring cup short grain rice

3 measuring cups coconut milk

1 tbsp. sugar (optional)

¼ tsp. salt.

Pour washed rice into the bowl, pour in coconut milk, add sugar, salt, turn on the “milk porridge” program, set the timer to delay cooking.

In the morning, stir the porridge, add a little milk if you like it thinner, and place on plates. You can sprinkle coconut flakes, nuts, berries on top, pour honey or silane on top.

Omelette

It turns out airy, fluffy, evenly fried, and most importantly, there is no need to guard it, and you can calmly take a shower at this time.

The omelet can be anything. From the simplest - from eggs, milk and salt - to the complex - from everything that was found in the refrigerator. But, for example, an omelette with peas and cheese:

50 ml milk

30 g frozen green peas

30 g grated cheese

Salt to taste

Olive oil for frying

Turn on the multicooker to the “Frying” mode for 15 minutes or “Baking” mode for 20 minutes.

While the bowl is heating, beat the eggs with the milk and salt with a fork.

Pour some oil into the multicooker bowl. Remove peas from freezer.

Pour the milk-egg mixture into a bowl, sprinkle the peas evenly, sprinkle cheese on top, close the lid and feel free to go to the shower or do other things. The multicooker will notify you when the omelet is ready.

If you don’t keep grated cheese in the refrigerator, you can put a few slices on top - this will also melt perfectly.

You can add something left over from dinner to this omelet. Roasted vegetables, pieces of chicken or fish, or even roast beef.

Dinner

If you have never cooked broth in a slow cooker, then I strongly recommend correcting this misunderstanding. Here the process is no different from the usual. Place all the ingredients for the broth in a bowl, add salt and select the desired mode. If your unit does not have a “broth” or “soup” function, then “stewing” is perfect.

Borsch

It’s different, of course, but we like it so much that I don’t cook it the traditional way anymore.

For 2 liters:

¼ small head of cabbage

1 carrot

1 medium potato

300 g beef

2 small or 1 medium beets

100g tomato paste

Juice of ½ lemon

Salt and spices to taste.

Place the meat, cut into pieces, into the multicooker bowl.

Shred the cabbage, cut the potatoes, grate the carrots and also put them in the slow cooker.

Peel the beets and add WHOLELY to the rest of the vegetables.

Pour water over the meat and vegetables, add a little salt and set to cook on the “Soup” setting. If your multicooker offers to set the cooking time, then set it to 40 minutes.

Cooking time will greatly depend on the size of the beets, how you cut the meat, and the model of your slow cooker. Therefore, the first couple of times you will have to look closely to find the best option.

After cooking is complete, open the lid, check the readiness of the meat and pierce the beets. If everything is ready, proceed to the next step; if not, then let the soup cook for another 10-20 minutes.

Remove the finished beets from the soup and let cool to a temperature at which you can grate them on a coarse grater. It is better to keep the multicooker lid closed at this time.

Return the grated beets to the soup and add lemon juice to fix the color.

Season the soup with tomato paste and salt to taste. And set the timer for another 10 minutes in the “cooking”, “soup” or “stewing” mode.

This is my family's basic recipe and can always be adapted to suit your tastes. Add onion, pepper, and at the end season with hot pepper, garlic and herbs. Instead of lemon juice, use vinegar or omit beets altogether and cook cabbage soup.

The main secret of any soup in a slow cooker is that at the end you need to season it well with spices to taste. Then it will be bright and rich. As much as you want.

Vegetable soup

1 small onion (you can use a leek)

1 carrot

1 potato

½ bell pepper

½ small zucchini

1 large tomato

1 clove of garlic

1 stalk of celery

2 tbsp. olive oil

Salt and spices to taste

In general, all the vegetables that are in the refrigerator go into this soup. You can add mushrooms, eggplant, cauliflower.

Cut all the vegetables into small cubes, crush the garlic clove with the flat side of the knife blade.

Heat olive oil in the multicooker bowl on the “frying” mode (timer 15 minutes).

Fry the carrots for 2 minutes, add the bell pepper and celery, after another 2 minutes add the onion and garlic clove. Fry, stirring until the onion is soft.

Add tomato, salt and fry a little more.

Pour boiling water or hot broth over the “frying”, add potatoes, zucchini, cauliflower, mushrooms, or replace all this with lentils.

Turn on the “soup” mode and set the timer for 20 minutes.

Season the finished soup with salt and spices to taste. Remove the garlic clove.

For adults, I usually season this soup with a mixture of herbs, garlic, chili, salt, oil and a small amount of wine vinegar, ground in a blender.

Dinner

I could write about slow cooker dinners forever. But I won't. I’ll just show you what I cook most often, when I have to run in the morning, and in the evening I definitely and immediately feed everyone.

Stewed chicken

2 tbsp. olive oil

1 onion

1 carrot

1 clove of garlic

1 can of peeled tomatoes, sliced ​​in their own juice

1 tsp Sahara

¼ tsp. salt

¼ tsp. oregano or thyme

800 g chicken drumsticks without skin.

Heat olive oil in a slow cooker. (“frying” 10 minutes)

Cut the carrots into half rings and add to the bowl.

Cut the onion into small cubes and add to the carrots. Mix.

Crush the garlic clove and fry with everything else.

Add salt, oregano, pour in tomatoes. Add sugar and stir.

Place the drumsticks in the tomato sauce and put on the “stew” mode for 40 minutes.

You can cook fish this way, but it will take 20-30 minutes, depending on the thickness of the piece, and it is better to simmer beef or lamb for about an hour. It will be very tasty with eggplants instead of meat. As usual, the spices and composition of vegetables can be changed to suit your own taste.

If your children prefer more neutral meat, then you can prepare something like “stew”.

1 kg beef

300 g onion

4 tbsp. olive oil

Allspice, bay leaf or other spices to taste.

½ tsp. salt

Heat the oil on the “frying” mode (timer 10 minutes).

Cut the onion into half rings and fry until soft

Add large pieces of meat, salt, spices and fry a little.

Close the lid of the multicooker and set it to “stew” mode. Depending on the power of your unit, the process will take from 1 to 2 hours.

In a version for adults, before stewing, you can pour half a glass of red wine into this dish, throw in a couple of cloves of garlic, thyme or rosemary and even a little smoked bacon. Delicious with a mixture of brown and wild rice.

Dessert

Casseroles in a slow cooker turn out great. Be sure to try your favorite oven option, adjusting the time a little, and I'm sure you'll be pleased.

Brownies are also great in the slow cooker. Especially often now I make coconut

100 g butter

100 g dark chocolate

50 g coconut flakes

180 g sugar

Melt the chocolate and butter in a water bath or in the microwave.

Mix eggs with sugar until smooth. Add coconut flakes.

Pour the butter-chocolate mixture into the dough and stir.

Add flour, stir until smooth.

Pour the dough into the multicooker bowl and set the “baking” mode for 40 minutes.

Cool the finished brownie, if, of course, you have time :) It’s easier to remove it from the mold cold, but it’s very difficult to resist the temptation to try it immediately.

This recipe is designed for a 2 liter multicooker bowl. If you have a larger model, it is better to make a double portion of the dough and increase the cooking time to an hour.
