Shawarma is a hearty, tasty snack loved by many of us. However, it is no secret that it is not so easy to buy and taste high-quality, fresh shawarma. Therefore, I propose to cook shawarma at home and enjoy its wonderful taste. Of course, the meat prepared for this snack at home will be different from the oriental meat cooked on the vertical grill. But on the other hand, you will know that the meat is fresh and of high quality, and if you wish, it can be made quite tasty. Let's cook shawarma at home.

To make shawarma you will need (2 servings):

    300-400 g chicken breast fillet *;

    100 g lettuce leaves (optional);

    4 cakes Ladushki **;

    1 fresh cucumber;

    1 pickled and / or pickled cucumber;

    ½ onion;

    1 clove of garlic;

    vegetable oil (for frying meat);

    salt, black pepper, curry - to taste.

    4 tbsp. l. mayonnaise ***;

    1 garlic clove, passed through a garlic press;

    freshly ground pepper mixture - to taste.

* - you can use other meat according to your taste.

** - you can use thin pita bread, pita, whatever you like best.

    Wash and dry the vegetables. Finely chop the tomato, cucumber, onion, add finely chopped pickled and / or pickled cucumber. The vegetable filling for the shawarma is ready.

    Now let's prepare meat for homemade shawarma. To do this, it is necessary to warm up the vegetable oil well, add a coarsely chopped clove of garlic to it and heat it. Take care not to burn the garlic. Remove the garlic from the oil. In garlic oil, fry finely chopped chicken breast fillets with salt, freshly ground black pepper and curry until golden brown.

    Let's prepare the shawarma sauce. To do this, you must mix all the ingredients specified for its preparation. The sauce is ready.

    Dry the pita bread a little in a pan (it is convenient to use the grill, but if you wish, you can not dry the pita bread at all). Put lettuce leaves and vegetable filling on pita bread.

    Add the meat filling.

    Add the sauce prepared in advance. As a rule, the sauce is added at the very end, when the shawarma is already rolled, but if you like a lot of sauce, then it should be added now and a little at the very end of cooking.

    Roll homemade shawarma into a tight roll. Roll the paper underneath to keep the sauce from spilling out, and place the shawarma in a small plastic bag to make it easier to eat. Add more sauce if desired.

    If you are cooking shawarma for several people at once, then it is quite nice to serve shawarma by placing it in tall glasses. So it will look very aesthetically pleasing, and the sauce will not pour out.

Today we will make a delicious chicken pita. Initially, I wanted to make shawarma, but there was no lavash in the store. Sometimes it happens.
So I used pita. It is called "Lavash-karmash". Very handy stuffing stuff.
With pita bread, the recipe would be exactly the same, but I would wrap the filling in pita bread and lightly grill the pita bread so that it crunches.
We will be using two sauces: white and red.
The recipe is simple. There will be no pumpkin today!

Ingredients:

● Chicken breast + part of the thigh - 1 piece
● Pita -6 pcs
● Onions -2-3 pcs
● Korean carrots -200-300 gr
● Spices, salt, butter, garlic, pepper, herbs - to taste

For the white sauce:

● Mayonnaise -100 gr
● Sour cream -100 gr
● Salt, pepper, herbs, garlic (optional)

For red sauce:

● Tomato paste -3-4 tbsp.
● Water - 1 \ 2 -1 glass
● Salt, pepper, herbs, spices, garlic (optional)

1.First of all, cut the breast into small pieces.
I also used some of the chicken thigh fillet, because some of us like it.

2.Slightly marinate the chicken in a mixture of spices, vegetable oil, salt, pepper, suneli hops and balsamic vinegar.
Additionally, I used zira.
Let the meat marinate for 15-20 minutes.

3. And while the meat is marinated, we will start making the sauce. We'll have white sauce and red sauce.
White sauce is made from a mixture of sour cream, mayonnaise, salt, pepper and herbs. Crushed garlic can be added.
Red sauce is made from tomato paste, water, salt, pepper, spices and herbs. Usually red sauce is spicy, but white sauce is not.
I used ready-made Korean carrots in the recipe.

4. Peel the onion from the husk and cut it into half rings.
Fry until golden brown in butter with masala or other spices.
We put the finished onion aside.
In the same skillet, fry the chicken until tender.
Spices and salt to taste.

4.Put the finished chicken meat to the onion. You can start to lay out the chicken pita.

5. Make an incision in the pita and carefully place it with onions, Korean carrots and two sauces.

It is really delicious!
And there are no particularly harmful investments here.

Shall we prepare?

Pork and pita with chicken

My children are very fond of shawarma in any form and today I want to present you a recipe for shawarma that is made in pita. What is interesting is that I make such a shawarma in the evening, completely, that is, even seasoned with sauce and until the morning in the refrigerator it does not become limp and does not soften and the children take it with them to school without fear as an additional lunch when they have many lessons.

Here is her (shawarma in pita) recipe:

1. As always, we will prepare all the necessary ingredients

Let's make such cute pita (I wrote about their preparation in the recipe "") or, in extreme cases, buy pita in the store. This is not a problem now.

2. Let's start with chicken meat. To do this, beat off the chicken fillet with a kitchen hammer and cut it into strips and pieces. Who will do it. I did not succeed in immediately slicing the meat thinly, since the chicken had already melted by that time and it was extremely difficult to chop finely (it is better, of course, to engage in slicing when the meat is still slightly frozen).

Add the necessary spices to it, mix

and fry in a pan (since, I think that not everyone has an electric grill at home, let alone a vertical one. Moreover, it turns out this way faster than grilling) until fully cooked. And now, after frying, chop it with a knife to create the feeling of a real grilled chicken.

3. In parallel with the chicken, we are engaged in vegetables. To do this, shred cabbage with thin strips,

4.Finely grate Korean carrots on a carrot grater

5.and mix them with salt with the effort of your hands so that the vegetables give a little juice and leave them for a while to soak with your own juice.

6. In passing, chop pickled cucumbers into thin, long strips. You can add a couple more fresh cucumbers, a couple of fresh tomatoes here, but firstly, I didn't have these products at that moment, and secondly, I myself don't really like them. So, in matters of filling, it is a matter of taste for everyone, and everyone decides for himself what products to put in shawarma.

7. Next, prepare the shawarma sauce (you can see its recipe here "Shawarma sauce - Simple and very tasty - you will lick your fingers")

8. And put all the ingredients in layers in the order in which your soul tells you. We fill the entire filling with a tablespoon of the prepared sauce. And that's all - you can enjoy the wonderful taste of homemade homemade fast food, cooked from start to finish with your own hands.

Enjoy your meal!

Hardly anyone can refuse a delicious shawarma, especially in the summer, when there are a lot of seasonal vegetables and you don't want to spend a lot of time cooking, but rather be outdoors.

It is called Shaverma only in St. Petersburg, in other cities the name of Shawarma is often heard. There is no difference between these dishes, they are two different names for the same dish. In some establishments, there is a rule: shawarma is wrapped in pita bread, and shawarma is wrapped in pita bread.

What is Arabian Shawarma in Chicken Pita?

Delicious homemade shawarma in pita takes pride of place on the table as a quick snack, lunch, dinner and even a festive meal.

This shawarma is wrapped in an Arabian flatbread - pita. It is a bread made from unleavened dough. The filling consists of vegetable salad, meat and sauce.

You can take any vegetables, most often these are: tomatoes, cucumbers, shredded cabbage, lettuce. You can also find options with Korean carrots, Chinese cabbage, mushrooms, herbs, cheese, etc.

This is an oriental dish with Turkish roots... It was first prepared by a Turk in Germany in the 70s. Since that time, tents have appeared in all cities, in which fried meat is cooked and, together with vegetables, is wrapped in a flat cake or pita bread.

The simultaneous existence of two names for the same dish is explained by the difference in the pronunciation of the word depending on the region of residence.
