100 g cream cheese (I took Cream Bonjur)
150 gr. mayonnaise
1 lightly salted herring
5 gr. gelatin
Soak gelatin in ¼ glass of cold water, let it swell and dissolve in a water bath until completely dissolved (do not boil).
Cool and mix with mayonnaise.
Grate the beets on a fine grater.
Grate the carrots with a fine grater.
Potatoes - on a coarse grater.
Cut the herring into pieces (after peeling and removing the bones).
Lay out cling film on the table (in several strips, preferably several layers).
Add 3-4 tablespoons of the mayonnaise-gelatin mixture to the beets, mix and lay on a film (rectangular layer).
The next layer will be cream cheese, to which you also need to add 2-3 tbsp. mayonnaise-gelatin mixture.
Attention! Each subsequent layer of food should be smaller in area.
The next layer is potatoes, in which you also add 2-3 tbsp. mixtures.
After the potatoes, there is a layer of carrots (with 2-3 tablespoons of the mixture).
Put pieces of herring fillet in the middle of the carrot layer.
Now, carefully, holding the edges of the film on both sides (it is better for someone to help you at the moment), roll all our layers into a roll (with a little effort).
Wrap the edges of the film. Now you need to wrap the roll in foil and put it in the refrigerator for several hours.

Today I want to present a classic recipe for herring under a fur coat, which, in my opinion, is the most delicious and balanced. The sequence of layers in this salad is not so important and everyone chooses it to their taste, the main thing is that the beets with mayonnaise are on the very top. I used to think that herring should be the bottom layer, however, in this case, when putting the salad on the plate, some of the most valuable ingredient is lost, so now I prefer to put the potatoes down, which creates a more solid base for the subsequent layers.
Ideally, for herring under a fur coat, you should take a whole herring and cut it into fillets yourself, since in this case the fillet turns out to be more juicy, fatty and, accordingly, tasty. But since this is a rather laborious process, for which there is not always enough time and effort, sometimes it is quite possible to use a ready-made fillet bought in a store. When choosing a herring fillet in a store, you should give preference to the whole fillet, rather than pieces in oil, since selected herring of the best quality is usually taken for such products.

1. To prepare the Herring under a Fur Coat salad according to the classic recipe, you must first boil all the necessary vegetables. To do this, wash the potatoes, carrots and beets without peeling them thoroughly and put them in a deep saucepan. Pour vegetables with cold water, bring to a boil over medium heat and cook until tender.
Advice! It is advisable to cook beets separately from other vegetables, since their cooking time is usually longer, and in addition, they can turn vegetables red. Potatoes with carrots should be cooked for about 40 to 50 minutes after boiling the water, while beets can take from 1 to 2 hours depending on their size. The readiness of vegetables must be checked with a sharp knife - it should easily and without cracking enter the middle of the fruit.
2. Boil eggs in boiling water for 10 minutes, then cover with cold water and leave for 10 - 15 minutes to make it easier to peel them.
3. Peel the potatoes and grate them on a coarse grater.
