5 gr. gelatin

Soak gelatin in ¼ glass of cold water, let it swell and dissolve in a water bath until completely dissolved (do not boil).

Cool and mix with mayonnaise.
Grate the beets on a fine grater.


Grate the carrots with a fine grater.
Potatoes - on a coarse grater.


Cut the herring into pieces (after peeling and removing the bones).
Lay out cling film on the table (in several strips, preferably several layers).

Add 3-4 tablespoons of the mayonnaise-gelatin mixture to the beets, mix and lay on a film (rectangular layer).
The next layer will be cream cheese, to which you also need to add 2-3 tbsp. mayonnaise-gelatin mixture.

My comments.

  • It would be nice to put finely chopped dill on the very first layer (up to the beets) on the film (this is for beauty, and it's delicious).
  • It is better not to cut herring fillets into pieces, but cut them into long strips along the length (this will be more convenient when cutting portioned pieces).
  • Be sure to add a little salt to the beet, potato and carrot layers.

Yes, because this salad was traditionally considered "winter", since it included vegetables of long-term storage, which were present all year round in shops of the Soviet era and in bins of summer residents.   • 300 g herring fillet
  • 2 medium beets (500 g)
  • 3 medium potatoes (500 g)
  • 2 medium carrots (400 g)
  • 6 eggs
  • 1/2 small onion
  • 120 g mayonnaise

COOKING METHOD:

1. To prepare the Herring under a Fur Coat salad according to the classic recipe, you must first boil all the necessary vegetables. To do this, wash the potatoes, carrots and beets without peeling them thoroughly and put them in a deep saucepan. Pour vegetables with cold water, bring to a boil over medium heat and cook until tender.

Advice! It is advisable to cook beets separately from other vegetables, since their cooking time is usually longer, and in addition, they can turn vegetables red. Potatoes with carrots should be cooked for about 40 to 50 minutes after boiling the water, while beets can take from 1 to 2 hours depending on their size. The readiness of vegetables must be checked with a sharp knife - it should easily and without cracking enter the middle of the fruit.
