- a classic English dessert that will not leave anyone indifferent who decides to try this delight. Tender and crispy shortbread crumbs combined with caramelized baked apples will bring indescribable pleasure. And, if you complement the dessert with ice cream, the taste pleasure will increase even more and reach at least level 80. Well, making dessert is surprisingly simple and quick, even indecently simple. I was surprised when I tried this recipe how simple everything was and did not require any special cooking skills.
It has low calorie content due to the large proportion of apples in the composition and the use of brown sugar. And, as you know, it is absorbed more slowly by the body, so it will never cause excess weight. So, we can say that apple crumble is healthy while remaining a tempting sweet dessert.
To bake crumbles, heat-resistant ceramic or porcelain pots are used. These are usually used to make creme brulee, cocotte eggs and other famous world dishes. They're called ramekins, in case anyone's interested. You can, of course, try other baking forms, but it seems to me that this dessert requires classics.
You can make shortbread crumbs for a large number of desserts at once, just put the leftovers in the freezer each time. The dough will lie there for about a month. And if you suddenly have a desire to eat something or, as they say, guests are on the doorstep, then pre-prepared dough will greatly speed up the process of making crumbles.
It is better to take unsweetened apples. If your apples are sweet, then you should reduce the amount of sugar, otherwise it will be overly cloying. It is also better to take apples with fairly dense pulp, as they will be subject to heat treatment. Very tender and juicy, they will most likely fall apart when frying in a frying pan.
I used Demerara brown sugar; it has a pronounced caramel aroma and taste, which is what we need when caramelizing apples. If you don’t have brown sugar, you can, of course, replace it with regular white sugar.
Walnuts go very well with apples, but if they are unavailable, you can replace them with other nuts or omit them from the recipe.
From the specified amount of ingredients, 4 desserts are obtained in molds with a diameter of 8 cm (about 4 cm in height). When using molds of other sizes, adjust the amount of ingredients.
We prepare all the necessary ingredients. The oil must be very cool. It is best to cut it into small cubes and then place it in the refrigerator or even the freezer half an hour before cooking.
Cut the nuts into medium-sized pieces. To separate the resulting very fine crumbs, you can transfer the chopped nuts into a colander, shake so that the crumbs fall out and transfer the nuts to a cup to await your further mission.
Next comes an optional step, but I highly recommend not skipping it. You can put nuts in dessert in this form, but if you lightly heat (fry) the nuts in a frying pan, their taste is transformed and enhanced, and the nuts themselves become brittle and crunchy. Well, heat treatment will not interfere with nuts that are sold already shelled, you never know where they have been. This doesn't just apply to walnuts. So, pour the nuts into a dry frying pan without oil and put it on the stove at a power slightly less than average. Roast the nuts, stirring constantly to ensure even roasting. When the nuts start to turn brown, remove from the heat, pour the nuts into a cup and leave to cool. The whole thing takes about 5 minutes.
Apples are next. Peel the apples, cut them in half, remove the core (this is convenient to do with a teaspoon) and cut into slices.
Now we will caramelize the apples. We will do this in order to make the apple flavor richer and add apple caramel sauce to the filling. Pour cinnamon, brown sugar and apples into a dry frying pan, mix and place on the stove at medium power.
Stirring constantly, heat the contents of the pan: the sugar will begin to melt and the apples will begin to produce juice. The roasting process is light and very aromatic.
After 3-5 minutes (depending on the apples), the filling will be ready: the sugar will completely melt, the apples will give juice, which will mix with the sugar. The syrup will darken and coat each piece. Looks very tasty!
And finally, we make the crumble. We don't just need to mix sugar, butter and flour. Our goal is for every grain of butter to be coated on all sides with flour and sugar. I mixed it in the bowl of a chopper, but you can also mix it in a food processor or just with a fork. You need to mix quickly, without allowing the butter to melt and absorb the flour and sugar. If you still decide to make the dough with your hands, then you should try to mix the ingredients very quickly so that the heat of your hands does not cause the butter to begin to melt.
The crumb seemed too small to me, I crushed it a little with my hands, the small crumbs combined into larger ones and now my dough looks like this.
So, everything is ready to assemble the apple crumbles.
Place the apple filling on the bottom of the molds. The number of apples can be adjusted to your taste. I prefer the apple layer to be slightly larger than the crumb layer. Sprinkle the apple filling with nuts and spoon the dough on top with a teaspoon. I spread the crumbs to the very top, this will give beautiful caramel smudges on the side of the pan, since during the baking process the apple filling will boil and try to get out.
Place the molds on a wire rack. I usually place baking paper under the pans to prevent the caramel syrup from dripping to the bottom of the oven. It will be quite difficult to tear it off later. Bake in an oven preheated to 180°C for 25 minutes.
Ready! Can be served both hot and cold. The classic option is to serve the crumble with ice cream. After preparing the first desserts, there is a desire to immediately experiment with fillings and spices. Don't hold back, let your culinary creativity come out and enjoy it! Bon appetit!

It is a two-layer pie made of fruits/berries and shortcrust pastry crumbs. An incredible combination of soft and crunchy textures. The apple crumble is served warm with a scoop of ice cream; this contrast further emphasizes the extraordinary taste of this dish.
Mix flour and sugar in a bowl.
Cut the cold butter into cubes.
Grind the butter and flour into crumbs; it is convenient to do this by rubbing the dough between your palms. Turn on the oven and preheat to 180 degrees.
Peel the apples, remove the core and cut into small cubes.
Fill half the mold with apples, pour the juice of half a lemon over them and sprinkle with ground cinnamon.
Spread the flour crumbs on top and tap the pan on the counter to even out the crumbs.
Bake the apple crumble in the middle of the oven for about 20 minutes (10 minutes if preparing it in portion forms). Two minutes before the end, turn on the grill mode.
Serve warm apple crumble with a scoop of ice cream. You can put the ice cream directly on the pie.
For filling:
I mix the dry ingredients for the military dough: flour, fine sugar (but not brown cane sugar), cinnamon, vanilla and a pinch of salt.
I washed the apples as well as I could to remove all the substances that they spread on the skin. I removed the core with a special knife. But you can just cut them into quarters and remove the core the old fashioned way.
I cut the apples into large pieces. Directly with the skin.
Now I will caramelize them. I put sugar in the pan. This time, reed. I heat it up.
I throw in apples and butter. And I heat it all up over high heat until it all turns a little brown.
While it's browning, I'll finish the dough. I rub cold butter into the dry sweet mixture. I rub it just to make it easier to keep getting in the way.
And I grind it into sand with my hands. Sand looks like this.
The apples are warmed up, the caramel has dissolved, I add raisins and cognac. I evaporate all the alcohol. This is all over high heat.
The crumble filling is ready.
I put it into the form.
I cover it with a layer of sand on top. And put it in the oven at 180 degrees until golden brown. This is approximately 60 minutes.
I take out the apple crumble.
I put it in plates and add ice cream, which melts and forms an excellent sauce.
The basic recipe is incredibly simple: apples are cut into pieces, distributed into molds and baked under shortbread crumbs consisting of flour, butter and sugar. The result is a juicy and soft filling under a delicious crispy crust. And if you are not lazy and simmer the apples with butter and sugar in a frying pan before putting them in the oven, the dish will be even more aromatic and tender!
Apples are most often used as the base for crumble, but if you wish, you can prepare the dessert with pear, plum, cherry or a mixture of different berries. The “highlight” of the recipe is not the main ingredient itself, but its combination with sweet flour crumbs.
For the test:
After cutting off a thin layer of peel and removing the core, cut the apples into large pieces and place in a bowl. To prepare crumble, it is advisable to take hard, sweet and sour fruits - then the dessert will benefit in taste.
Pour 20 g of sugar into the apples, add ground cinnamon and thoroughly mix the contents of the bowl.
In a dry, heated frying pan, stirring, fry the nuts for 3-5 minutes. After cooling, grind the nut kernels using a blender. There is no need to grind the nuts to a minimum crumb - it is enough to get medium-sized pieces.
In an empty frying pan, melt 20 g of butter, and then lay out the apples mixed with sugar and cinnamon.
Stirring occasionally, keep the mixture on low heat for 7-10 minutes. As a result, the grains of sugar should completely melt, and the apple pieces should acquire a golden hue. After removing from heat, add nuts to the prepared apple mixture and mix.
Cut the cooled solid butter into cubes of arbitrary size.
Add sugar and all the sifted flour at once.
We begin to actively rub the mass with our hands until crumbs are obtained. Now the dough for apple crumble is ready!
Divide the mixture of apples and nuts into portioned containers, lightly greased with butter (the number of ingredients is designed for 5-6 small molds). You can cook it in one large container, but keep in mind that the dessert turns out to be very crumbly and you won’t be able to cut it like a pie; you will have to put it on plates with a spoon.
Cover the apples with flour crumbs and place them in a hot oven.

Maintaining the temperature at 200 degrees, bake the apple crumble for 20-30 minutes (until the crumbs are browned).
The dessert can be served either warm or cooled. Apple crumble goes well with a scoop of ice cream.
For the baby:
For filling:
And after this time, we take out our crumble)) let it cool a little and enjoy, it’s especially good to add a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Crispy crumbs with walnuts go well with tender baked apples. It’s better to make the dessert right away in portioned ceramic molds; if you don’t have them, use a regular round pie pan, then simply spoon it onto everyone’s plate with a large spoon, trying to evenly place both the filling and the crumbs.
Place cold but not frozen butter, sugar and flour in a bowl.
Grind everything with a fork into fine crumbs. If the dough comes together in a lump, you can add a little more flour.
Chop the walnuts with a knife. There should be large pieces, so do not grind them into flour. Pour into the bowl with the rest of the crumble dough ingredients.
Mix.
Peel the apples from cores and skins. Cut into small cubes. Place in molds, compacting well. During baking, their volume will decrease and they will “fall off”. Fill the molds about two-thirds full.
Sprinkle butter crumbs with walnuts on top. Place in a well-heated oven and bake at 200 degrees. 15-20 minutes. The crumbles should be slightly browned on top, but it is important to ensure that the nuts do not burn. If the allotted time has already passed, and the tops remain light, you should increase the temperature slightly and keep in the oven for another 5-7 minutes, because here it is important to get crispy crumbs.
This delicacy is delicious served hot, straight from the oven. It will be interesting if you put a scoop of ice cream on top, which will immediately melt upon contact with the surface of the dessert.
For the oat streusel you will need:
Apples for crumble with oatmeal can be left with the skin or cut off - at your discretion. But keep in mind that the consistency of the finished crumble depends on how soft the apples are. If you peel the apples, then when stewing they can turn into puree, and the crumble tastes better with pieces of fruit. Cut the apples into 4 slices, remove the seeds and then cut into small pieces (as for pies).
Heat the butter in a frying pan. Pour in the apples and simmer over high heat until the apples release juice. Reduce the heat, cover the pan with a lid and continue to simmer the apples until soft. Add sugar, cinnamon, mix with apples. Simmer for another 5 minutes until the sugar dissolves. Ready apples should be soft.
Add raisins to apples. It must be poured with boiling water in advance or steamed in a water bath and dried. Mix raisins with apples and set aside for now.
Now you need to prepare everything for the oat streusel. We take instant flakes - they are more tender and soft. Pour the flakes into a dry frying pan and lightly brown over low heat until golden brown. Toasted oatmeal will have a very pleasant nutty flavor.
Mix the cooled flakes with flour and sugar.
Cut cold butter into this mixture into pieces (it is advisable to freeze it a little to make it easier to prepare the streusel).
Using your fingertips, quickly grind all the ingredients into crumbs. Place the streusel in the refrigerator.
Forms for preparing apple crumble with oatmeal are best used in portions, small in size, with high walls. Grease the molds with butter. Fill almost to the top with stewed apples.
Take the oat streusel out of the refrigerator. Spread an even layer over the apples, covering them completely. Place the molds in the oven, preheated to 200 degrees. Cook the apple crumble in the oven for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
You can serve apple crumble with oatmeal warm, hot or cooled - in each case it will have a special taste. You can complement the sweet dessert with a scoop of vanilla or cream ice cream or any berry or mint syrup. Bon appetit!
A delicious dish of apples, cinnamon and butter crumbs.
It is best to take the sweet and sour variety of apples, because such apples are the most delicious when baked. Makes approximately 3 servings of dessert. If you don’t have portion molds, you can bake in one mold and spread the finished dessert with a spoon.
Mix flour and sugar.
Melt the butter (I melted it in a cup in the microwave). Pour the butter into the flour and sugar and mix with a fork.
It is necessary to mix with a fork, slightly loosening and breaking up any too large lumps. The end result should be crumbs.
Cut the apple into large slices (remember to cut out the inedible part), then cut the slices in half.
Grease portion molds with oil. Lay out the apples (do not lay out tightly).
Sprinkle with cinnamon.
Cover with crumbs. Place in an oven preheated to 200 degrees. Bake for about 25 minutes, until light golden brown.
In the finished dessert, the apples are very soft, and the crumbs on top are crispy.
Crumbles can be prepared both in portioned molds and in one large heat-resistant form with low sides: glass or ceramic. I haven’t tried it in silicone or metal ones. But, I think, in silicone, if it is of high quality, it is also possible. But it’s probably not worth it in a metal one - the juice generously released from the fruits and berries of the lower layer will come into contact with the metal walls of the mold and oxidize, and this is undesirable.
The amount of apples and sugar can be varied according to your taste. If the apples are sour, you can use a little more sugar; if you don’t like sweets, vice versa. I like the option where there are a lot of apples and a little bit of crumbs. So you can take 7-8 pieces.
Wash the apples and remove the cores. And from the peel too, so that the dessert turns out tender. Cut the apples into small pieces, as if you were going to stew them for filling in pies.
Turn on the oven to warm up to 200C.
Melt a piece of butter in a frying pan (a little less than a tablespoon, about 10-15 g), add apples and 1 spoon of sugar.
Stir and simmer, stirring, over medium heat for 4-5 minutes until the apples begin to soften.
Meanwhile, in a small bowl, combine the flour, the rest of the butter (3 tablespoons) and sugar. Add lemon zest, salt, cinnamon and vanillin.
Grind everything together with your hands into crumbly crumbs. If the crumb is sticky, you need a little more flour, if it’s too dry, a drop of butter.
Place the apples in the mold and sprinkle with lemon juice.
Pour the crumbs onto the apples, distribute them evenly, press lightly and, loosening them a little with a fork, sprinkle them with lemon juice again.
Place in the oven on a medium rack and cook for 15-20 minutes until golden brown. When the top of the crumble begins to turn golden brown and the apple juice below begins to boil, making its way out and soaking the crumbs, the dessert is ready.

The workpiece is ready. All that remains is to bake the crumble in the oven for half an hour.
The preparation of apple crumble with walnuts is similar to the previous recipe, which uses almonds. The principle is the same - the kernels are chopped and added to the dough.
Cook in the oven until an appetizing aroma appears and a golden crust appears on the surface of the pie.
It is enough to bake the crumble for a third of an hour - the stewed apples are already prepared, and the dough bakes quite quickly.
On a note. If the crumbs are too sticky, add a little flour. If, on the contrary, it is dry, a couple of drops of oil will fix the matter.
Any housewife will say that now is a wonderful time, because you can cook not only national traditional dishes, but also master the recipes of other peoples and countries. Thus, crumble appeared from English cuisine in Russian spaces, and immediately found many fans.
Local chefs did not translate the English crumble into Russian, although the translation would rather explain what the essence of the dish is. The word can be translated as “crumb, crumble,” and the dish itself is somewhat reminiscent of an upside-down pie made from fairly dry dough and a filling, usually fruit or berry. For example, crumble is prepared with apples, apricots, pears, cherries, strawberries, as well as a wide variety of other fresh and frozen berries.
The finished pie has a low calorie content, only 125-150 kcal per 100 grams of product, and can add pleasant variety to the menu of those who are on a diet or trying to get back in shape. Below are some crumble recipes.

It is indispensable in the summer, when there is an abundance of fruits, berries and other sweet fruits. Apples, pears and plums are considered ideal fillings; these fruits are dense, do not turn into porridge when baked, and give a little juice that saturates the dry dough well.
You can diversify the dessert by adding grated chocolate and various nuts.

An ideal addition to crumble is ice cream; a good dessert with juice, fruit drink, cold milk or hot coffee.
