Tourist places in the city I go quite rarely, although the genre itself, in principle, is clear to me. And given the fact that the flow of tourists during these New Year holidays has grown so much, I want to indicate all prices in foreign currency. Just to advertise your favorite city. “Excellent steaks in a serious restaurant for 10 euros”, “tartars for 5 and a half” - you must admit, it sounds. Yes, in Casa del Meat there are dishes for 2750 rubles (which seems to be about 30 euros), but these are the little things in life.

Interior It hasn't changed since it opened, and that's great. Everything in the restaurant is such a frozen picture out of time; stately and solid. Personally, I still prefer the part to the right of the entrance - warmer in color and completely devoid of tablecloths, it is in perfect harmony with the ceiling vaults, perhaps the steepest in the city. And this part is closer to the kitchen. In the middle of Casa del Meat is one of the first in the city (except for hotel restaurants, of course) a salad bar, an unlimited number of “approaches” to which will cost 690 rubles.

What is strange for a formally touristic place is the lack of numbers in an impromptu wardrobe. Has everyone suddenly become very honest? Or expensive fur coats left in the distant 2013? Guests are welcomed well, there are no complaints about the service of the first day either. Except for the fact that the girl, having given the bill, completely loses interest in everything that happens: surrender, issue of a jacket, farewell - all this is not there. The second shift I got on was weaker. They meet, but do not lead to the table, after the order they catch at the toilet and conspiratorially report that “the soup that you wanted is not available now” and much more like that. But I'll talk about everything a little later.

Yes, it's expensive here. But expensive is underlined. Olivier for 500 rubles, dumplings for 700, beef stroganoff or stewed rabbit for 900 - probably, all this is nothing more than an indicator of status and a good product. At the same time, it is often not clear where the jokes end and the pathos begins. “Our favorite hot dishes”, “Our excellent steaks”, for example, are not a selection from the series “the best, favorite, just for you”, but simply sections of the menu. We are proud of everything. True, a dialogue like: - “What do you recommend?”, - “And everything is delicious with us” can happen more likely in a bad restaurant than in a good one. Another funny thing: the menu has an “Unusual Choice” section, which, among other things, offers “salmon meat” and “octopus meat”.

In general, if you look closely, the rather bright and at first glance classic menu raises questions. For example, why are there Chinese soups of 450 milliliters? So that the guest does not have enough strength for steaks? The most interesting part was found on a separate tab - a special menu of tartars of different "national style" and alternative steaks, 300 grams of which will cost less than 800 rubles. Compared to the usual menu, where 150 grams of grass fattening costs 1200-1300 rubles, and 1650-2700 rubles are asked for 300 grams of grain, this is just some kind of holiday.

An Asian-style vegetable salad (550 rubles) turns out to be just “Asian salad” on the bill. If you forget about slices of meat, then most of all in the recipe there will be not even carrot straws, but some kind of dryness - except for the “juice” that the vegetables gave in the salad, there is nothing else. Yes, and everything is served strangely - on a rectangular plate, where you can’t really mix anything. In general, with the same (if not more) success, one could simply go to the salad bar and dial it all on their own. The ingredients are fresh, no one argues, but they forgot to link them together. Moreover - to issue "Asian". But if you accept the idea and fill it with dignity, it will be good.

The waitress of the second shift, about whose mistakes I already wrote above, chronically does not repeat the order. That's why instead of "Italian tartare with sun-dried tomatoes, please", "French with mustard and french fries" (490 rubles). How you can confuse these phrases or hear something else, I’ll never know, but there’s nothing to do - you have to eat what you brought. The meat itself is excellent and very well dressed, but the fries are completely lethargic and barely warm. It would be better if it wasn't, honestly.

Julien (450 rubles) is not only spelled correctly for once, but also declared on the menu with “duck and mushrooms”. In general, very good. Starting with the fact that the cocotte is quite large (which seems to justify the high price for a snack) and ending, in fact, with taste - there are no questions. A brighter recipe could only be made with the active use of salt, and this, you see, will not be to the taste of all guests.

In one old cartoon, there was a Mouse who, at the sight or smell of cheese, fell into a trance and, like a zombie, was drawn to this cheese. Maybe not so extreme, but remotely it seems that I react to meat - raw, boiled, fried, baked, stewed ... In general, anything, the main thing is that it is cooked well and has the taste of real meat. I understand that vegans and vegetarians will turn away in disgust from me, from a person who eats dead food, saying that cholesterol and carcinogens will not bring me to good. But I probably have an “addiction” and therefore I just can’t refuse meat.

The city regularly opens places where meat is the main feature, there are many places of Caucasian cuisine, where meat is also the main guest on the table, but I didn’t choose a favorite for myself, as I encountered “jambs” everywhere, even in the best meat places. But enough philosophy, let's get down to business.

A colleague suggested meeting at lunchtime near the VO arrow. Despite the fact that there are many bad and good places where you can dine nearby, the first thing that came to my mind was the Meat House, or the Meat House or the Meat House, whoever translates - in the original - Casa del Meat. Been there many times. Impressions are mostly positive, but as they say, not without flaws.

1. Interior
The interior is pretty expected for a meat restaurant - lots of bricks, boar heads on the wall, subdued light from large hunting-style chandeliers. A very solid interior, suitable for the semi-basement of a classical building, probably from the beginning of the 19th century. Comfortable sofas and chairs. At the entrance, however, having descended from the large staircase, you run into a sofa, it is not clear why it is located here, but more on that later.

2. Kitchen
The restaurant positions itself as a No Fish restaurant - but this is not true, at least one fish has been discovered - salmon. True, it appears on the menu as salmon meat. I will not argue about philology, but it seems that fish does not have meat. As an appetizer, a Green salad with confit duck stomachs, grapes and cashew nuts (550r) was chosen. After 5 minutes of consultation in the kitchen, a frustrated waitress informed me that there was no salad. After that, my choice fell on beef tartar (580 r). Well, I didn't like it. For me, tartare is the taste of meat first of all. I can add supplements of my choice if I want, be it capers, onions, or whatever. Unfortunately, I didn’t really feel the meat in this tartare, only as a kind of substance - the basis for various added flavors. For the main course, I took deer fillet with berry sauce and gratin potatoes (890 r). Tasty, overpowered the negative aftertaste from tartare. I could not stand it - I took a dessert - a homemade honey cake - dry and tasteless, probably not from a hospitable home. My colleague liked everything: the arugula salad - fennel was added for originality, because it somehow differed from thousands of similar salads, and the steak with wok vegetables.

3. Service
They met me extravagantly - going down the stairs mentioned above, I saw a large sofa ahead at its foot, on which an attractive girl was lying in a comfortable position with a tablet in her hands. "Visitor" - I thought. "Guest" - the girl thought and quickly jumped up, turning out to be a hostess-cloakroom attendant. I can’t say that I didn’t like such a meeting of the guests, although I was still somewhat surprised. True, later, after reading that all owners of black jeeps are given a 20% discount, I realized that this kind of reception is the most correct one. The waitress, I can give the highest rating, attentive moderately talkative.

Summary: I will come again
