Who brought alcohol from Portugal how much. What to bring from Portugal - tips for tourists

20.02.2022 Desserts and cakes

From a trip abroad, you always want to bring back not only souvenirs, but also something significant. For example, high-quality local alcohol and products from Duty Free. But not always and not in any country you can import or export as much as you want. This article discusses all popular tourist destinations and the rules governing the import and export of alcoholic beverages in these countries.

When importing and exporting alcohol from the country, you need to navigate:

  1. For restrictions, for luggage and hand luggage (if you are flying by plane).
  2. to local customs regulations and legislation. Particular attention should be paid to this point, since customs restrictions on the import and export of alcohol can vary greatly in different countries.

You can bring in duty-free 3 liters of strong alcohol or beer for each adult. More 2 liters can be imported with a duty of 10 euros per liter. It turns out, you can bring in a total of 5 liters, while the total cost of drinks should not exceed 1500 euros.

You can take out as much alcohol as you like from Russia: the main thing is that the customs office does not consider alcohol a commercial batch - this can lead to criminal penalties. Therefore, when calculating the spirits that you can bring home from all over the world, you should always focus on the maximum amount of 5 liters.

Turkish customs allows tourists to import 5 liters of weak alcohol (strength up to 22 degrees), or 1 a liter of spirits, as well as up to 20 packs of cigarettes or 50 cigars.

There is no need to exceed this amount - alcohol in Turkey is inexpensive. There are no restrictions on the export of alcohol from the country, but it is worth remembering the maximum 5 liters of alcohol imported into the Russian Federation - the border guards will be forced to take the rest.

Belarus

On the territory of the Republic of Belarus, the same customs standards for the import and export of alcohol apply as in Russia. Every adult citizen can bring into the country duty-free 3 liters of alcohol, for 2 liters will have to pay 10 euros for each liter.

Maximum total quantity for import: 5 liters per adult subject to a fee of 20 euros. There is no delimitation of the norm for the strength of alcoholic beverages.

You can import into the country without duty until 1 liters of drink per adult, but the ban does not apply to alcohol from Duty Free. You can export from Thailand no more than 3 liters of alcohol (again, no limit in DutyFree).

For violation of customs legislation, a fairly large fine can be imposed (about $ 1,000), but in reality, customs does not look too much at alcoholic beverages. On the net, you can easily find hundreds of messages that the import and export of alcohol in Thailand for tourists is regulated very weakly, and they look through their fingers at exceeding the limits. To risk or not - let everyone decide for himself.

Drinks with a strength of up to 22% can be imported into Finland from the age of 18. Stronger alcohol customs will only allow travelers aged 20 and older. When exporting alcohol, one should be guided by the customs legislation of the country where these drinks are planned to be imported (for the Russian Federation, the restriction 5 liters). The following quantities of alcoholic beverages are allowed to be imported:

  • 16 liters of beer;
  • Or 4 liters of wine;
  • Or 1 a liter of strong alcohol (22 or more degrees);
  • Or 2 liters of other spirits (including sparkling wines and champagnes).

Alcohol within this amount is not subject to customs duties. Drinks can be combined: for example, a liter of champagne and 0.5 strong alcohol will fit in the limit. In order to bring alcoholic beverages into the country, the total duration of stay in Finland must be at least 72 hours (for residents of Finland this period is reduced to 20 hours). This rule applies not only to drinks brought with you, but also to purchases from DutyFree.

In case of violation, it is necessary to pay a fine in the form of double the cost of alcohol. For example, if 1 liter of declared vodka costs 32 euros, then if another liter is found, you will have to pay a fine of 64 euros.

UAE - United Arab Emirates

With the UAE, everything is much more complicated than with most countries: the rules for the import of alcohol in each emirate have their own. This is logical: all emirates are autonomous, have their own monarch and, in fact, are separate states.

In tourist-attractive emirates, the following restrictions apply:

  • Abu Dhabi and fujairah can be imported up to 4 any alcoholic beverages per non-Muslim.
  • AT Dubai24 cans of beer or up 4 l any other alcoholic beverages.
  • AT Sharjah- before 2 l alcoholic beverages and 1 beer packaging.

Export of alcohol from Europe (EU)

For countries - members of the European Union, there are uniform norms for the export of alcohol (customs norms). These norms apply to 28 states: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Great Britain, Hungary, Germany, Greece, Denmark, Ireland, Spain, Italy, Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia , Finland, France, Croatia, Czech Republic, Sweden and Estonia.

Imports are also subject to some restrictions on the territory of the EU countries: 16 liters of beer, 4 of wine, 2 liters of alcohol up to 22% and 1 liter of spirits.

From these countries, you can export without duties and for personal consumption the following amount of alcohol:

  • Up to 110 liters of beer and beer drinks;
  • Up to 90 liters of wine, of which up to 60 liters can be sparkling wines;
  • Up to 10 liters of strong alcohol (with a degree above 22%);
  • Up to 20 liters of drinks with a strength of less than 22%, not listed above.

It should be understood that the ability to export such an amount of alcohol from European countries does not mean that customs in the country of arrival will pass with all this goodness. Even if you buy dozens of liters of alcohol in any of these countries, more than 5 liters per person will not be allowed into Russia anyway.

Restriction on the import of alcohol in other countries

  • Poland- you can bring with you 16 liters of beer, 4 liters of wine (not champagne), 2 liters of low-alcohol drinks (up to 22%), 1 liter of hard alcohol. You can transport / export up to the restrictions from the previous paragraph.
  • Tunisia- it is allowed to bring into the country 2 liters of alcohol with a strength of up to 25% or 1 liter of alcohol with a strength of 25%.
  • Ukraine- every adult can bring 1 liter of vodka 2 liters of wine or 5 liters of beer.
  • Estonia- 16 liters of beer, 4 of wine, 2 liters of alcohol up to 22% and 1 liter of spirits.
  • Kazakhstan- customs standards are similar to those in the Russian Federation: 3 liters of alcohol for an adult + two additional liters with a duty of 10 euros per liter.
  • Lithuania- the country allows to import 1 liter of spirits or dessert wines, 2 liters of table wines or 4 liters of beer.
  • Israel- Customs in Israel will pass duty-free adult citizens who decide to bring into the country 1 liter of strong alcoholic beverages or 2 liters of wine.
  • Georgia- Customs regulations allow bringing into Georgia no more than 4 liters of any alcoholic beverages.
  • Armenia- You can bring into the country no more than 2 liters of any alcohol.
  • Vietnam- one adult (over 18 years old) can carry 3 liters of beer, 2 liters of alcohol up to 22% and 1 liter of spirits over 22%.
  • China- in China there is a restriction on duty-free import in the form of 1.5 liters of alcohol per adult.
  • India- it is allowed to import through customs up to 2 liters of any alcoholic beverages.
  • Egypt- no more than 1 liter of alcohol, regardless of strength.
  • Bali- up to 2 liters of any alcoholic beverages per adult.

USA

On the territory of the United States, there are uniform customs rules that rarely differ from state to state (unlike the emirates in the UAE), but it is still desirable to clarify local domestic legislation. On the issue of importing alcohol, the customs rules of America are very different from other countries in the fact that you can only bring alcohol here from 21 years old and not from 18.

The limit on the import of alcohol is very small: up to 1 liters of alcoholic beverages, regardless of strength. That is, at least 2 bottles of whiskey of half a liter, at least 2 bottles of beer of the same volume. With regard to tobacco products, American customs officers are more loyal: you can carry 50 cigars, up to 2 kilograms of chewing tobacco, or 200 cigarettes (block). In case of exceeding the limit on the import of alcohol, the rest of the volume will have to pay customs duty. Fines and other sanctions are also possible - you should limit yourself to 1 liter or clarify state laws.

Traveling through the colorful Portugal, I want to take something original and beautiful with me from the trip, which at home would remind me of this wonderful country and its people. Leather goods and ceramics, gold and silver jewelry, coffee, wine, national souvenirs - this is not a complete list of what they try to bring from Portugal in the first place. This country has a lot of goods at fairly reasonable prices, so you should think carefully about what to take from here as a keepsake. So, travel tips!

Souvenirs with the image of the rooster "Barcelos"

Many tourists are interested in what to bring from Portugal from souvenirs. It is really worth paying attention to souvenirs with the image of a rooster, famous even outside the country.

The Barcelos rooster is the national symbol of Portugal. Why is he so famous? There is an old story that says that when a theft happened in the small town of Barcelos, the thief could not be found for a long time. But somehow a traveler came to the town - he was found guilty and sentenced to death. Although the traveler claimed for a long time that he was innocent, they did not believe him. And then he said that even a roasted rooster could confirm his innocence. And so, when the unjustly accused climbed the scaffold, a roasted rooster crowed on the judge's dining table! The execution was canceled, justice was restored.

With images of the rooster, Barcelos produces various souvenirs, fridge magnets, postcards, kitchen towels and potholders, mugs and glasses. There are also figurines of a rooster of different sizes, made of clay, glass, cork, as well as soft toys. Such products are literally in any souvenir shop.

Azulejo is a square or rectangular ceramic tile painted with folk patterns in white and blue tones. This tile is the main "highlight" of the traditional architecture of Portugal, here it is used to decorate the facades of religious monuments, government buildings and ordinary residential buildings.

You can buy one or more tiles and decorate with it at home, for example, a wall in the bathroom or in the kitchen. By the way, at flea markets you can even buy old copies of azulejos quite cheaply.

As souvenirs from Portugal, you can bring not only tiles, but also various products, the design of which is designed in the azulejo style. For example, bags, jewelry boxes, kitchen utensils, fridge magnets, jewelry. You can choose very beautiful small caskets in the Pena Castle in Sintra or in the Queluz Palace near Lisbon - such gizmos cost about 15–30 €.

Crockery and other ceramic products

The production of ceramics in Portugal is a national craft elevated to the level of art. Local shops have a very large selection of amazingly beautiful and unique painted dishes. From this country you can bring a dish in the form of a cabbage leaf, a pot in the shape of a huge pumpkin, a teapot in the form of a frog or a plate with the image of sardines. Such dishes are made by hand, the main production is located in the small town of Caldas da Rainha. The prices for these products are appropriate: from 20 to 100 € per piece.

Ceramic crafts are unusual and attractive, but it should be borne in mind that it is very difficult for tourists to transport large fragile items. It's good that you can bring small souvenirs from Portugal as a gift: a frog or a ceramic sardine.

Undoubtedly, Russia is a fairly rich country with a very extensive list of foods and drinks. In it you can buy almost the entire range of alcoholic products. But, going on a trip to another country, each person strives to bring home a souvenir in the form of a bottle of excellent overseas alcohol.

Russian wine prices

It is for those who wish that the government of the Russian Federation developed rules for the import of alcohol, which clearly regulate the procedure, norms and amount of alcoholic beverages allowed for import into Russia.

The main restrictions, norms and rules of import were changed and introduced with the entry of the Russian state into the customs union. It is he who regulates the basic provisions regarding the import of many goods. According to, any individual with citizenship of any country has the right to carry 3 liters of alcoholic beverages.

In this case, the degree and turnover of alcoholic beverages do not play a role. It is allowed to import vodka, wine, whiskey, sake, beer and other alcoholic products. It is worth remembering that the import of alcohol in the amount of 3 liters is not taxed. But this does not mean at all that you can import any amount of alcohol, even taking into account the payment of duties to the budget. According to legislation, any individual is allowed to enter no more than five liters of any alcohol.

That is, if a person carries three liters of a drink, he is exempt from paying duties, but for the remaining two, you will have to pay 10 euros for each liter. As a result, the maximum amount of the duty can be equal to 20 euros (with an imported volume of five liters).

It is important to remember that only a person who has reached the age of majority is entitled to import alcoholic products. In other words, a person who is trying to import alcohol into Russia must be eighteen years old at that time. Minors are not allowed to carry alcoholic beverages. Only one person is allowed to import such a volume of alcoholic products.

Filling out the declaration

An example of filling out a declaration when importing alcohol into Russia

It is important to remember that the maximum amount of alcohol is five liters, but this applies only to individuals who have purchased drinks exclusively for personal use and do not intend to use them in commercial activities for profit. There are different rules for entrepreneurs. Only a person who has reached the age of 18 has the right to fill out a customs declaration. A minor cannot carry out such a procedure.

It is also worth remembering that the customs declaration is filled in if the allowed volume of alcohol is exceeded (3 liters, but not more than 5). If a person carries three liters of alcohol or less, he is also obliged to declare the goods, then he can do this orally.

But in any case, he is obliged to notify the customs officer of the presence of alcoholic beverages. And exceeding the norm requires documentation, this is required in 2020. Usually people crossing the border are aware of the rules for importing alcohol into Russia. Such representatives can themselves approach the counters located along the perimeter of the red corridor and ask the customs officers for forms (declaration).

At ground checkpoints, this request can be addressed to any representative of the customs service. Please note that there are two forms to fill out. One remains directly with the person crossing the Russian border, and the second with the customs officers.

The declaration must include information such as:

  1. Surname.
  2. Surname.
  3. Home address of actual residence (registration).
  4. The country you are going to (Russia).

All data must be identical to passport data. If minor children are traveling with a person, this must also be indicated in the declaration.
When filling out the declaration, it will be necessary to indicate the total value of imported products that are subject to payment of duty. You will also need to specify the exact amount. It is important to remember that it is necessary to indicate in liters.

At the bottom of the declaration, you will need to put your signature and the date it was completed. Both forms are provided to customs officers, after which they check them. One copy remains in the hands of the person, and the second copy is seized by the representative of the customs service for reporting.

It is important to remember that if a person travels to Russia and has alcoholic beverages subject to mandatory declaration, he must pass through the red corridor.

If you do not declare "excess" alcohol, then you can not only lose it through confiscation by the customs service, but also be held liable in accordance with Article 16 of the Russian Code. It involves imposing a fine on a person for unauthorized import of alcohol, in some cases confiscation of goods. At the same time, the amount of the fine directly depends on the value of undeclared alcohol. It can be either one hundred percent or have a double size.

It is worth remembering that it is possible to import alcohol in such quantities only for purely personal purposes. According to the law, the government does not regulate the maximum number of border crossings per day. But it is important to take into account that if a person crosses the Russian border enough times in a day, this can lead customs officers to the idea that alcohol is being transported for very “non-personal” purposes of the carrier.

These norms of the bill apply to all types of transport and any types of alcoholic products purchased outside the Russian Federation.
