Pea is a very healthy product, rich in vitamins, amino acids and antioxidants, which has a beneficial effect on our heart, blood vessels, and thyroid gland. However, peas are quite rare on tables: most often it is present in pea soup and Olivier salad, but there are other very tasty recipes, for example, pea porridge.

What do you need for cooking pea porridge with chicken:

1.5-2 cups peas,
  600 grams of chicken,

Recipe for cooking:

1. To prepare porridge with chicken, first of all, you need to prepare the main ingredient, as well as chicken, carrots, onions, vegetable oil and spices.
2. Rinse the peas well, soak for 20-30 minutes in cold water, at this time prepare other products.
3. Rinse the chicken well (by the way, it is better to take the fillet), dry and cut into small pieces. Put the meat in a pan, fry until golden.

Recipe:

1. Take the peas in the required amount, put them in a deep bowl, and then fill with cold water. When the peas begin to swell, drain the water and rinse the grains themselves.
2. Next, take a saucepan with a thick bottom, or cauldrons and put the peas there, again pour clean cold water in the specified amount. Put the pan on medium heat, bring its contents to a boil, then reduce the heat and cook the peas until fully cooked. At the end of cooking, salt and pepper to taste to taste, and also add butter.
3. Take a crush and mash porridge to a state of mashed potatoes.
4. Now peel the onions and carrots, finely chop the vegetables and put in a frying pan previously greased with vegetable oil, fry until golden. Then put the meat stew for vegetables, stew for another 5-7 minutes.

What do you need to make pea porridge in a pot:

2 cups peas
  300 grams of bacon or brisket or other meat,

1. If you are going to cook porridge in the morning, it is better to start cooking in the evening. Rinse the peas thoroughly and then soak them in cold water in a deep bowl. Water should cover the peas about three to four centimeters. Cover the bowl and leave to soak at room temperature. If you cook during the day, soak for two to three hours.
2. After the lapse of time, drain the liquid, and rinse the main ingredient one more time and set aside for a while.
3. Take the bacon or brisket, cut the meat into small pieces.
4. Peel the onions, then chop it finely.
5. Take the pan and grease it with oil, put the bacon in the pan and sauté it until golden brown, then add chopped onions to the bacon and simmer for no more than two minutes.
6. Put the prepared peas in the pots, and add the bacon fried with onions. Pour a teaspoon of salt into each pot and put on a bay leaf, pepper to taste.
7. Pour the ingredients in the pots with hot water to the top, then cover with foil.
8. Place in the oven, preheated to 160. Cook for one and a half hours. After the time, remove the pots.

Pea porridge in a pot of meat is ready! This option turns out to be very unusual and aromatic, be sure to try making porridge from peas in this way, for a change add seasonings and spices if desired.

To be honest, I cooked it for the first time, although the ingredients and the cooking method itself are not very different from our very favorite pea soup with smoked meats.


First you need to soak the peas for at least a few hours, but ideally, of course, it is better to fill it with water since the evening. Then we rinse well and transfer to the pan and pour clean cold water in a ratio of 1: 2.


Meanwhile, cut the onion into a cube. However, cutting is not important, because in the end the onion does not stand out clearly.


Fry the onion in a pan until golden brown.


While the onion fries, rub the carrots on a coarse grater. In principle, such a quantity of carrots is enough to get a beautiful porridge color and taste, but you can put a little more.


When the onions are fried, put the grated carrots to it.


While the vegetables continue to be fried, take the chicken leg, remove all the meat from it and cut into a small cube.


If the onions and carrots are fried sooner than the peas are cooked, simply remove them from the stove and set them aside. When the peas are already beginning to fall apart and there is almost no water left in it, we transfer it to the pan. We put the chopped ham there.


We mix everything well, salt, pepper and add any seasonings to your taste. I added only salt and pepper, each and so it turns out very tasty. Continue stirring for another 2-5 minutes until excess water evaporates and remove the porridge from the stove. Serve adding a little green. I think green onions are best suited to taste.
