Traditionally, in street stalls, freshly prepared waffles are rolled up with a horn, put in a paper bag and watered with sauces. And if you take them to a cafe, then the filling can be various ice cream, whipped cream, soft caramel and a bunch of toppings.

It so happened that not far from our hotel on the small Gough Street there is one of the most popular “waffle” cafes in Hong Kong - “Oddies Foodies”. The institution, frankly, is small ( which is not surprising for the city center), but bright and therefore does not "pressure" visitors. Instead of tables, there is a stand with tulles, about 8 people, but especially no one in the cafe does not stay too long, they mostly buy takeaways. The pimply egg waffles here are really very tasty, and the portions are such that I, a sweet tooth with experience, hardly mastered.

There is such a long and steep staircase from Queen's Road Road Central on Gough Street, but at the end of a difficult climb we had a delicious dessert in a cafe.


The room is narrow and elongated in the depths of the building, which is very characteristic of Hong Kong.

This is one of the most popular waffle variations in Oddies Foodies, called Nigft Wolf, and it’s very difficult to cope with such a night wolf.

In addition to the wonderful Hong Kong waffles, the cafe specializes in soft Italian low-fat ice cream ( Italian low fat soft gelato), not for nothing that the institution is called "GELATERIA", that is, an ice cream parlor. It is added to waffles and served in jars ( really, in glass jars!), and in the form of giant horns ... oh, hello, caries! They do not have their own site, but they have a Facebook account (https://www.facebook.com/oddiesfoodies/) where you can track new items.

These are all ice cream cones. They are unrealistically large, to eat at least one of them you need not just a desire, but also to show skill, since here they made concessions to appearance and taste to the detriment of convenience. Eating is not convenient, but very tasty and unusual!

We also ate the puffed ice cream in the jar, but forgot to take a picture, so only an illustration from the menu.

In addition, you can buy some cookies, for example, these are almond, but after waffles and ice cream we could no longer look at any sweets.

Perhaps the only weak point of Oddies Foodies was the service - it did not reach the highest point. For example, out of three or four of our raids in a cafe, the coffee machine worked only once, but I’m sure that everything will work out over time, we’ll definitely check it on the next visit.

Well, that’s for you small article update... On our next trips, we visited Oddiz Foods several times, and came to the conclusion that the current management is simply killing the cafe. Yes, it’s popular, as it’s fashionable to say “cult place” or “masti” ( must see) and on this his leadership earns, but a sober look from the side ( this is me so modestly to myself) shows a sad picture. Apparently, they could not fix the coffee machine and now they do not even offer a fragrant drink. Of the other drinks, the maximum is water ... Ice cream in beautiful horns, which lured visitors from the window at the entrance, disappeared somewhere ... In short, if managers do not recover and continue to work in this style, then the cafe will sink into oblivion! I hope this does not happen.

In general, wildly upset after our next visit to the Oddies Foodies, we decided to look for something similar in the area, so that not far from the hotel. There was no need to search for a long time - literally next to Oddiz on Queen`s Road Central there is an excellent cafe "BB Egg Waffle"   . Well, it’s still difficult to call a cafe in the generally accepted sense, since there is very little space inside the room, literally so that a couple of people can sit down while the order is being prepared. But this is not important, because it is with great pleasure to eat delicious waffles while walking around. In addition to the Hong Kong waffles themselves, BB Egg Waffle has an interesting ice cream and a wide range of drinks ( unlike Oddiz!), mainly Hong Kong Bubble tea"In different versions.
